“A good catchword can obscure analysis for fifty years.” – Wendell Willkie

Aloha.

I erased this entry because I didn’t convey anything meaningful. It was the writings of a stupid kid who couldn’t get her feet under her. I was stumbling all over the place. When I get tired I barely make any sense in English. Eric knows this quite well about me. So, no writing at the end of the day. I need to do it at seven in the morning when I make sense.

Cheers.

“Don’t go away, come near. Don’t be faithless, be faithful. Find the antidote in the venom. Come to the root of the root of the self.” - Jalal ad-Dīn Muhammad Rumi (13th Century Poet)

Happy WEDNESDAY! (I got the day and the date right for this writing exercise! Woo-hoo!)

Aloha.

Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.

Class system:

I erased this entry because I fumbled everywhere. I wanted to write about class system in America but I kept stalling out of cowardice. Need I say more? Nope.

Shall we?

“A peace is of the nature of a conquest; for then both parties nobly are subdued, and neither party loser.” – William Shakespeare

Happy Tuesday! (Oops, cutting and pasting doesn’t work for me.)

“Bridesmaids” is five stars as in yes, “Two thumbs up!” Have you ever eaten a delicious film even if it’s not perfect? Kind of like red velvet organic pesticide-free cupcakes? Earthy and tasty. Oh, goodness! Yum! If you haven’t gotten out there and seen it, please do. I’m not advocating for this film. I’m simply sharing. I loved how “Bridesmaids” makes the point to point-out the shallowness of “Nouveau Riche” and the insecurity of middle class “white women” in modern contemporary America.

Aloha, Japones hermanos y hermanas.

Aloha.

So here it goes;

A Letter to the American Troops;

(A prose letter to our Minnesotan Soldiers and Troops all over the Globe and to our American brothers and sisters serving overseas, “Hello”.)

Troops; Hang in there; it’ll be like a poetic skateboard ride; random and we’ll just see where we end up, but I can tell you that it’ll be fun as all beautiful things always are with a moral tale that makes sense through logic and reasoning.

First and foremost, Aloha Dear American Soldiers abroad. “Alloh.” “Hola.” “How are you?” I bet you haven’t heard that expression in a while. So, if you’re not asked very often “How are you?” As geeky and dorky as it may sound please ask yourselves, ‘How are you?’ to a deep internal region further than your soul. In Spanish there is a word for something deeper than the soul, “Alma”. Soul and life force combined together. There in that place is the deepest you, in which you hold all the answers to the Universe. Simple? Right? Right. This place inside yourselves. This “alma” is considered in some Latino cultures as a place where peace reigns.

What? What is she writing about? Think. It doesn’t cost anything.

If someone can think up a thought and then communicate it and convey some aspect of meaning that is understood outside of the self then you’ve got two things; fire and homemade pesticide free organic apple pie. Need say more? How can she write to the American service folks like that? Who does she think she is? I can write to troops like this because I’m a lovely and mature (monogamously married non poly-amorous) woman of the World and I’ve kept a vigil for 11 years now hoping and wishing for the return of our American soldiers and troops as well as passing on the WWI and WWII bright red lipstick trend. Every time I apply red lipstick I do it for our American service folks because the women of WWI and WWII did it – they wore bright red lipstick in remembrance of their American service men and now I, too, carry on that tradition with a vegan lipstick and I’m a proud American woman. See, beauty and peace are cultivated everywhere you go…

Soldiers, what can I truly say? Nothing.

My “alma” calls me to write to you. I’ve been told that Minnesotan troops are committing suicide overseas. I have no words for you. My Gods and your God! What are you trying to tell the rest of the World, Minnesotan troops? I can’t think of anymore clear and direct communication than monkeys that fling poop at invaders, baboons who let their asses hand out when they’re ready to mate and humans who commit suicide. I take in a deep breath as I sit at this keyboard and think about our troops.

No, my letter is not cheesy. It’s not even a tuna melt sandwich. Not even sword fish or fried “Shack” squid. Nope, this is a good old American fashion hotdog with tomatoes and mustard. This letter is here to tell you that first generation immigrants are holding down the fort for you. We pray for your safe return daily and we vote as often as we can. As first generation immigrants we understand that war is not a child’s play but a serious consideration because your lives are at stake and your families’ livelihoods hang by a thread.

Mi Corazon me duele para ustedes. My heart hurts for you. I can’t imagine how you’re holding up in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya (Correction; Officially NOT IRAN). I want you to know that our citizens do the best that they can but that the honest to Gods truth is that our American citizens starve and go without resources while China and India got wealthy from outsourcing American jobs.

I’m neither mad nor racist against the Chinese and Indian citizens. But I got smart and decided not to cut a distribution deal with the Chinese because their humanitarian laws made my blood run cold. Everyone wants a chance at feeding their families and in this modern era it’s all about humanitarian justice through economical, political and creative efforts. I’m appalled that our corporations, government and conglomerates left the American people to starve in a short decade. It’s a shame. A travesty and it brings silent tears to my eyes just thinking about. No, I’m not a cry baby. I just learned to cry about four years ago and it feels delicious. The extents of my cries are goose bumps and a hardened jaw. I’m a woman of the World. What do you expect?

I’ve come forth; seriously. I’ve come forth to ask the Minnesotan troops not to commit any further suicide in the World. I can understand my Japanese brothers and sisters taking on cultural Samurai warrior suicide perspective. I really can. The thing is this...I don’t plan on becoming a politician and I figure that if our soldiers come back alive and take some years to recuperate then you can become the uncorrupt politicians and leaders of the next ten decades. I can’t imagine better candidates. I figure that you’ve seen atrocities in battle and in war abroad in the Middle East so you can face the political and economical wars of your starving American citizens and corrupt politics and business.

American Troops don’t give up on your American citizens. Minnesotan troops, please…as citizens we’ve been hanging in here for your safe return for 11-years so please hang in there for us. I’ve heard many aspects of conversations for more than a decade on this Middle Eastern war and people keep telling me that the government can’t pull out of the Middle East for two reasons; A) We get our cheap oil from the Middle East and B) The Taliban would take over those Middle Eastern Nations once more. A) We can generate and find other modes of oil resources elsewhere on the globe. Seriously, it can be done. We’re that smart we can figure it out. I know it’s cheaper to get the oil out of the Middle East. B) Eventually those particular Middle Eastern Nations (Iraq and Iran) will have to govern themselves but let the World Bank and World Government set up strict boundaries for Nations that starve, massacre and impoverish their own citizens. Please. Soldiers, return to Minnesota alive so that you can lead the World into a high moral ethical longevity of economics, politics and a healthy distribution of wealth.

Most of my youth has revolved around war in my life time. Do you know how tragic that is?

I have no more words. I don’t know what else to say on the subject…

Sincerely and mindfully;

Gabriela

P.S. I erased my post script notes because they were stupidly conveyed. I should not have written while I was so tired. I make no sense whatsoever when I feel that my head’s about to touch my desk. I revert back into a sleepy kid of English as a Second language who refuses to make sense in English out of complete crabbiness. It’s tiresome to translate everything inside your head every day from one language to another back and forth. I could fall asleep writing some days by how tired I can become by making connections to comprehension in any material. (Sigh.)

Happy Monday!

Wow, the days go by all too quickly…

Aloha. (I love that saying for so many reasons!)

First and foremost, goodness; the World weather!

“A-yee, ya-ya ya-yee!” (I love Mexicano expressions and their rolling of the R’s).

*) This is the wisdom that I’ve listened to scientists, weather forecasters, archeologists, farmers and other wise weather folk… Weather influx is normal for a World history. Difficult weather has been occurring for thousands of years and more. With that said, my Mayan and Ojibwa prayers are with all those who suffer natural disasters Worldwide. Nothing can lessen the pain of losing your homes and finding entire neighborhoods displaced. Ayee.

*) She looked over and said, “I loathe Michele Bachmann…” I was stunned. “Why do you loath Michele Bachmann?” She straightened up a bit and breathed a little. “I loathe Michele Bachmann because my school district is full of meth fiends and meth dealers.” She’s a part-time nurse and part-time house cleaner so that she can feed and clothe her Irish family. I drew a deep breath and brought my hand to my heart. I hurt for my former classmate and re-acquainted friend of 17 years. “I told my fourteen year old that if he tried meth that I would physically hurt him.” I understood her point of view. I’m not yet a parent so I don’t know what I would do in such a situation. Ah, what a heart breaking aspect of life to address with someone as young as fourteen. What could I have told her to lessen her pain, nothing. I sat silently and hurt for thirty seconds then relaxed and began immediately thinking of positive constructive solutions for her neighborhood. (I have yet to gather my thoughts and ideas and write an essay of solutions for my friend and her neighborhood. Now that’s worth all the diamonds of the Universe; excellent ideas. Humans don’t run out of excellent ideas that’s how brilliant humans are.  It just takes a little time to think about concepts and associations. That’s all. Social physics in strategic mathematics to form a positive outcome. I’m still trying to figure it out.)

*) We walked through a warehouse building with rows and rows of objects. “So, let me get this straight, people in India starve because of the objects sold in this warehouse store?” I asked. “No, Americans starve because of the objects sold in this warehouse store. Everything got outsourced and now Indian workers in India are living a life of wealth while Americans starve.” He stopped and looked at some gadget on a shelf. “So what will it take to get Americans back on track to a vital economy?” I think I know an answer… do you? I’m not a genius but I’ve been taught how to think like one by not pretending that I am one but that I can strive to become one. Ah, ideas are a dime a dozen but excellent ideas are difficult to come by because they take time to develop like anything worth developing.

*) We stopped and looked at books on a shelf.

Random Thought: (I’m sorry but I didn’t solely go to school to study filmmaking I went to school and studied global communication analysis; (Now that’s worth a hundred grand otherwise it would have been a waste of currency coming from a middle class citizen adult). Nothing in marketing is done by default. Everything, and my professors’ meant everything is considered in the methods of selling you on an object or an idea about what you wish to fulfill in yourself through the purchase of merchandise; first through ideology. I was taught to look at the world this way through education, so don’t get mad at me because I now deconstruct everything. Education taught me to do that and it’s difficult to undo. That’s all. Thank Gods I’m lazy brained if I don’t have to work at thinking at something all the time then I don’t – I’m happy sipping juice or mate tea in some corner; who isn’t? Right.)).

I looked up at the shelves and I let out an annoying laughter to portray how annoying ideology is sold. Next to a book with an Indian on a cover was another book cover of Sarah Palin (who I think is a stunning looking woman by the way; I like her 1950’s retro hairdo, sorry…) there on the cover is a most ugly photograph of the poor lady. (Ayee ye-ye yai.) Questions raced by… (What publisher chose the photo of Sarah Palin looking like a rabid animal? What “marketing guru” placed the book of the Indian and politician in the same section? Get it? I wasn’t being sold subject matter in reference to books I was being sold ideologies.) You could hear a pin drop in that warehouse store. Nothing.

*)”Why don’t the wealthy and powerful afford the luxury of advisors who say ‘No!’ to them any longer?” I asked. “Because they don’t find it important.” He answered. “Yes, but it seems that entire staffs require to be fired for advising the wealthy and the powerful poorly.” He stared at me. “Which staff would you have fired?” He asked. “I have two that come to mind in particular as of this year but more importantly any staff that advises a leader of power and wealth, poorly which makes the leaders out to look like idiots in the public eye.” I sighed, “I would have walked back into that room after that press conference and fired the whole lot for advising so poorly. That’ll teach people to take the game of politics and business seriously and to have the best interest at heart for the leader. If you believe in an ideology worth standing up for then personal gain of wealth and power won’t be your first thoughts on the agenda.”

*) As for Michele Bachmann, since one of her districts is full of meth fiends and meth dealers and my friend’s fourteen year old has to make it through a drug warzone everyday to get to and from school, because of this alone I will not be voting for Michele Bachman in the next Presidential election. To me she is a non-contender in this presidential running but she is a really pretty lady to look at with nice makeup and a cool hairdo. (Sorry, Minnesotans but I think Michele Bachman is really pretty like a Barbie doll and I loved Barbie when I was younger. No joke. I knew the difference between a Barbie doll and a human female and I think that Michele Bachman is a handsome woman and it’s difficult not to gawk at her prettiness. I was never confused about that comparison and contrast yet I could not stop staring at Barbie. She’s so pretty. I mean it! I’m not mocking… this is not a joke. I’m being quite serious as a feminist. I love the color pink and purple. I love all colors and what is there not to like about pastels? I love Minnesotan pageants. I love pageants. I love looking at hairdos and dresses. I don’t like the swim suit contest because I don’t want to look at half naked women in public. It’s not embarrassing it’s… Gods how would the French put it? My only wish is that pageant contestants had World genius intelligence in their answers, then the scholarships would be worth all the fame and fortune, no? Si. Yes. Could you imagine some diplomat for Miss America?)

*) As for Tim Pawlenty, I don’t know. I have yet to research the positive and negative impacts of how he left my neighbors to deal with their economical neighborhoods. Why is it that I’m not seeing and hearing much about the democratic presidential candidates in the United States media? Is president Obama running again? (Rhetorical) Are there no democratic presidential candidates running in this presidency? (Tongue in cheek.) In Minneapolis all that the major news outlets seem to cover is Michele Bachman, Tim Pawlenty and Sarah Palin so that leads me to make an educated guess that major air waves for Minneapolis are paid by the republican party, no? Si. Yes? Who knows? (Tongue in cheek). I’m not a politician nor do I pretend to be one nor do I ever want to be one.

I’m a modern artist and my inspiration is Charles Dickens.

*) Another finding in Colorado; One, cannot own mineral rights even if you buy under a patent. Interesting findings, no? Si. Yes. I don’t make up the laws, somebody else did.

Sincerely and thoughtfully,

Gabriela

“I do not at all have the mind of a bully... in my mind bullies are intolerant of contrary opinion, domineering and rather cowardly. I would hope that none of those terms could be fairly used in describing me.” - Conrad Black

Happy Friday!

All I know is that I know nothing and I mean it.

I’m trying to make sense of this World.

Love is not the new hate. Love without boundaries is the new hate…

Do you think I’m a mean girl? You’ve seen nothing yet. I’ve faced them. I’ve met them. They will make your blood run cold. Mean girls are fierce but nothing to be afraid of. It’s a call for help like mental ward patients.

(Correction; I heard a white woman walking down the street who used the terminology “Wall Street guru”. This terminology doesn’t mean anything to me, per say I use it as loosely in translation as I would slang for “hanging out”.

I’m NOT a “guru” nor am I trying to become one nor do I care to be one. It comes with too many responsibilities. I’m not a role model nor am I trying to be one but I will have to try to become one, soon-enough since I want to become a parent. Ah, maturity no different than growing pains. Right. Right.

QUESTIONS AND POINTS:

*) What do you mean some republican leader walked out of a legislative session yesterday because he didn’t want to discuss the deficit? What! That’s your job to talk about the deficit. So, do your job or let the people hold elections.

*) What do you mean that republicans and democrats won’t work on a Minnesota budget deficit together? Are you behind the people or not? If politicians aren’t for the people, then let the people know because households need to prepare for economical abandonment.

*) Why is it that government seems to be run by corporations and news affiliates? What is government? What are the duties, responsibilities and requirements to run progressive government?

*) Why can’t the republicans agree with the democrats on raising taxes on the wealthiest 2%? What gives? This country cannot go on as it is. Something has to budge. Something has to give. Where is the compassion in economics? Is currency here to create progress or not? The wealthy live off of interest. The wealthiest will not have to go without for anything. The wealthiest will not have to give up eating so their children can have health care. Do you understand the political gravitas of all this? Please.

*) Why can’t marijuana and prostitution be taxed? It’s a major issue. Tax these major money making functions and bring a huge surge of currency and revenue into the city which goes untaxed anyway. It’s happening so let’s tax it. Why ignore it?

I looked into making a documentary about prostitution in Minneapolis this year, but when I first saw a woman sold for $100 bucks at a gas station it made my blood run cold and I had to run like any intelligent Indiana does. Yes, I can talk about the issues and deal with them, but I won’t go there with you because my life and time are too valuable. It’s not that I won’t address the subject matter of prostitution head-on in a documentary but I just won’t put myself in the line of fire. I’m too smart for that.

*) Our troops are coming home in body bags. Doesn’t that count for something? What is this Vietnam II all about anyway? (Rhetorical.) Will the politicians desert their citizens? Our troops haven’t deserted their citizens thus far so will the politicians desert their civilians?

*) Minneapolis Citizens, like those of N.Y.C. please take your streets back. Please, do not desert your neighborhoods. The citizens will reclaim our streets. You know why? Because when neighborhoods go silent so does the economy. Silent neighborhoods means a dwindling economy, so peacefully contribute to local neighborhood economy anything you can even if its pennies. I know, it’s easier to stay home and meet in private then it is to go to the corner cafe house, but households are counting on it, so I do my duty as an American citizen. I shop locally and think globally. Right. Wasn’t that a slogan in the mid-90’s?

*) As far as boycotting goes; I don’t boycott driving but I most certainly boycott where I buy my gas. I’ve held the honor of sitting amongst tycoons in business meetings for large national musical venues in which they openly discussed currency. Once a venue contracts a location and its musical acts it’s difficult to shutdown such a venue because a lot of currency is riding on it.

*) I don’t agree that any public figure no matter how large or small should stand in the way of progress. I won’t be attending the “_____ ____” because sending out 400,00 (correction from “12,000” to “400,00”) DVD’s against innocent same-sex households is like taking people’s livelihoods and dignity away. I can’t stand for a principal that hurts local households. I just can’t no matter how I see it and I’ve given it a few months of consideration. If I was a musical act I’d back out from such a contract. And, yes that too comes with responsibilities or I just wouldn’t get myself into contracts that hurt peoples’ livelihoods and their future children. You know why because art is politico any way you look at it and to stand silently and watch prejudice unfold is like committing prejudice yourself. I’m just saying as a principal. (I know-I know long winded. I don’t ever talk this much unless amongst long time and trusted friends. Funny! Ha?)

*) When did Americans take the liberty to touch strangers in public? Hands off. If it hasn’t been established between individuals that you can touch an individual then always ask permission if it’s okay to touch someone unless they are on fire, stuck in the middle of railroad tracks or choking. Get it? Ha!

*) What on earth is the difference between a Rogue citizen and a Rogue FBI agent? I don’t know but there could be a joke in there some place. Right? Right. I’m a serious person by default, I wish I could write comedy and I like laughing at a good joke.

*) I’m not a rogue citizen. I abide by rules, laws and regulations. Why wouldn’t I?

*) I believe in freedom of speech and press. Who doesn’t? I wouldn’t want to be caned for chewing gum while walking down sidewalks. I love St. Paul Minnesota by day the business district is bustling and I love it!

*) That’s it for now. I look forward to a private walk in the woods with a friend and former classmate of 17 years. Wow, how the years go by, no? Si. Yes. Tonight I look forward to breaking bread with another friend and former classmate, her familia and my lovely husband. Cheers!

*) I hate crying in public and yet I’ve allowed for two master mind manipulators to exploit me this year. It will never happen again. Mark my words. I only cry if the spirit calls to me otherwise, step to the side. Please. “I do my best crying behind closed doors.” For sure.

*) Some of my best friends are Black, Indianas and Hispanic. Do not for one moment think that I’m a racist because I challenge the status quo. Think. It doesn’t cost anything.

Sincerely and truly peaceful.

Gabriela

P.S. On-line social media, a man I don’t know well, (his behavior has shocked me) one of his contacts shared a fotografia that stated, “Speak the truth even if your voice shakes.” And I’ve been carrying this saying around for a week. Thank you for sharing. I’m trying. I’ve failed at public speaking all my life because it makes me uncomfortable, but here where I can be in the background, sitting on top of a mast I can look out to the horizon and yell down, “I see land!”. My cultural take as a first generation immigrant is as different as any and that is sometimes mind-boggling how different it is. People hate it when you point, laugh and say, “The Emperor has no clothes on.” If people hate you for your ideologies then most likely it’s because they hate themselves for their ideologies.

Do you know why you can’t really make room for adult bullies in your life because then children will suffer and as an adult I cannot allow for that to happen. Not on my watch, anyway. I’m silent but vigilant. The moment you place a hand on a strange child in public, game over. Children are precious and ought to be treated so.

I know-I know. I’m long winded when I write – I’m working on it. Some day this blog will hopefully only be a paragraph. I have run-on sentences, misspelling and grammatical errors. That’s the point of this blog to progress in the English language. Entiende. Understand.

He suggested: “You have a lot of material to cover so make brief points.” I’m trying. I’m translating and it’s awkward…

At the age of 16 I told a close friend, “Watch, I’ll be one of the most hated people when I choose to speak my voice.” She said, “Those who know you and understand you will always love you.” I loved her wisdom. My husband said the same thing to me 18 years later and I fell head over heels for this man.

“For the most part fraud in the end secures for its companions repentance and shame.” – Charles Simmons

Happy Thursday!

Aloha.

(Corrections; Many grammatical and numerical corrections have been made on Haikus. Thanks.)

As an English as a Second Language person; words and culture don’t mean the same thing to me as it does to Native speakers. I use words in their rawest and purist form because what else is there except the dictionary which I happen to look up words about 100 times or more a day.

Um, it was brought to my attention that the contemporary urban meaning for “guru” is the same as “fraud”.

I’m just saying… That WORDS have power and they build-up new meanings over time like the word “betrayal” is not used in contemporary form in the same way as it was 300 years ago.

I can only imagine that to be in advertising, marketing and PR that people do have to keep up with contemporary culture because if they don’t then it can bite advertisers on the rear end and people end up conveying meaning that they intentionally didn’t mean to. That’s all. Words and culture are funny…aren’t they? How words change over time that’s anybody’s guess?

I personally wouldn’t put “guru” on any marketing campaigns for now because the word “guru” comes with a whole new contemporary and negative meaning. I’d have to agree with an urban contemporary definition for so many reasons and yet again I don’t make up the rules; culture does. I just notice culture and either pass along observations or I don’t. You’ll make-up your own observations as you already know how to as any adult does.

I’ve met so many frauds in my lifetime. Everybody has at one point or another.

Frauds mooch off of gullible men and women.

I’ve never begged even when I’d gone three days without food. You know why? I didn’t want to create an imbalance in the world. I knew better than to ask for handouts. My friends and family have never given me a penny to create art so why should you give away your money and resources to a guru for their cause if artists starve to create in America?

Think about it.

Artists suffer in the world yet you’re going to give your money away to some stranger who says “bunga bunga” to you. Please, you might as well contribute to your artist friends’ survival then to some idiot who’s only interested in your friends’ and family’s phone numbers and pocket books. If someone gets excited in a conversation only about your connections and somebody else’s money then you know everything you need to know about them. That person only cares about a “wealthy” clientele. Yikes, Run!

Don’t take my word for it – you’ll come across these people soon enough.

Wake up, America. You’re letting people eat from your soul.

When did Americans become so gullible about spirituality?

A healer, guru and shaman live off self-sufficiency and have the dignity never to bash you over the head with their ideals, ideas and spirituality.

You know what’s the problem with gurus?

There aren’t enough ethics or codes of conduct in a “made-up” guru society as there are with capitalists. Yep, I said it. I’d rather give my money to a capitalist to invest in culture over the long haul then a guru over a short period. At least I know that in Wall Street there are some rules, ethics and codes of conduct to abide by about numerical currency that shouldn’t go rogue.

Made-up gurus seem to just grab at thin air and make up holistic measures for others. People are freaks and scary and they will take advantage of others so shields up. If you fall for that, then please don’t have anything to do with my community because that means you’ll hurt the ones I love and I will NOT allow for that to happen. Do you understand? Just because you’re gullible it doesn’t mean that I have to be gullible right along with you. Nope, I’m too mature for that. I starved for three years too many to be that gullible.

There are no two ways about it. I’m sorry; I know it’s difficult to read this because sometimes it’s difficult as it is to take responsibility for your own emotions much less the safety of an entire village. I run away from frauds no matter what I desire the outcome to be - it is still going to be the same, innocent bystanders that get hurt and that’s not acceptable because then a tragedy is written. I won’t create tragedies but I will write about them.

The reason why “gurus” are frauds in America is because they ask people for money. Period. Need say more? Oh, you didn’t like that… well, it’s your pocket book not mine. As an artist I’m not asking you for a penny. I take care of myself and my own without having to beg for a handout in exchange for bogus ideas. Even this blog, I’m not asking you to support it because our hard earned money does. Get it? Ha! I’m laughing all the way to the bank and I’m middle class with no money or power to speak of. You would be too. I generate money with the sweat of my brow and not with a handout.

I thought that gurus were self-sufficient and worked like the rest of us rather than from financial handouts.

If anybody asks you for money, then run. That’s a panhandler not a guru. There might only be a handful of gurus in the World by now – they’re getting old and dying. That’s the truth of the matter.

I use little kid common sense with adult wisdom. Don’t you? No, “common sense” is not brilliance nor genius but it is safety first. Not having common sense is like taking a chisel and chiseling away at a “water wall”. Do you know why chiseling away at a “break wall” isn’t common sense because the rock wall is there to break the water and to keep the land from flooding. Get it? Ha!

I hate to be the one to tell you the harsh reality of a grown mature adult life; “Don’t expect to be saved by others especially from yourself” so get used to having to do hard emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual work.

When did people get so lazy about their spirituality that they won’t do their own research? Find the answers inside yourselves. You were born knowing everything already. Don’t look to someone else to give you the answers you already know. Aren’t you ashamed that you got spiritually lazy along the way? You should be. It’s embarrassing to watch anyway anybody looks at it.

Do you know what’s appalling - next to a guru who wants your money but won’t even ask you directly for it like a panhandler who will? – Missionaries in Latin America who don’t speak Spanish handing out bibles to the indigenous poor. Yikes, run! Corre! I don’t run unless it’s serious timing. Otherwise, I’m slow as Tortuga.

Yes, I write about Minneapolis-St. Paul Minnesota because this is a place where we live. Sometimes, I think about moving to a larger and more respectfully dense populated metropolises and busy-chill streets. Who doesn’t?

Large metropolises are fun to walk around in and explore the architecture, museums, galleries, schools, arts and culture and the food from many different thriving and beautiful neighborhoods. I’m not saying I’m moving…but there is a lot to be said for lively neighborhoods and inner urban densely diversified cool cities.

Do you know what I love about N.Y.C.?

On every block there is a “mom and pop” shop. If you get hungry for Mexicano tamales, then you can find them as well as with any global food. I miss that… in a city. In a metropolis people co-exist peacefully because there isn’t much choice but to do so.

I love Manhattan delis in the early morning hours.

I love being inspired by a thriving well rounded class no matter what background. In cities where any class status can peacefully co-exist and allow for all citizens to be unbothered and free that’s worth cultural gold.

No “hustling”, per say in many pockets of neighborhoods because frankly the population evolved – the populous gets it that some are going to live-out an economically low-income existence while others will hold an upper-class existence and still yet the majority will be middle class, hopefully. It doesn’t mean anything except this; can you provide for yourself and yours? Is the city you live in safe, thriving and providing for its workers?

Can you put a roof over your head and food on your table especially with how hard you work? Because that’s incredibly commendable in any era of history any way you look at it. That’s all that life requires and how will you do it? Will you contribute to society or will you destroy/manipulate/exploit society?

Minneapolis-St. Paul is not like Manhattan, nor SoHo, and San Jose, for that matter. I’ve always loved the anonymity of thriving metropolises with its smart animals down to the pigeons. Who doesn’t like smart animals that survive, live and thrive each day? The beauty of large metropolises is that you don’t always run into the same people in dense metropolises and when you do. Then it’s a peaceful encounter no matter how awkward or bizarre your history because everybody is a grown adult going about peacefully.

I love getting lost in the middle of crowds where no one cares who anybody else is and they thrive together. Now, that’s as close as you can get to an urban pleasure in the exchange for taxes. Wonderful. Moving on. Nobody is any more or less special than anybody else and people are actually peaceful rather than ego-centric, crazy and rabid in large metropolises. They’ve had to learn the harsh realities of life.

Wonderful.

Wishing you a lovely day no matter what your responsibilities and needs may be. May you be self-sufficient adults providing for you and yours. Cheers. We provide for us and ours without strings attached. Nobody owes anybody anything.

Peace.

Pura Vida.

Gabriela

(Correction: “When you make your first feature, make it without money so that no one will ever hold anything over your head.”) Wow, that was twelve years ago! Time flies.

P.S. When you’re in public go peacefully and tranquillo. Calm everyone. Tranquillo. You’re no more or less special than anybody else.

If you haven’t noticed the hard working people repairing the sidewalks and streets of Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota; well, please look. Our construction workers are doing a beautiful job with reconstructing, repairing and rebuilding streets that were forgotten at least for the last seven years that I’ve lived in inner-city of Minneapolis Minnesota just like the North Minneapolis blogger who chose to live in North Minneapolis and covers a wide range of subject matter in broad and narrow topics about his neighborhood. What is there not to love about local and global bloggers? Don’t we want to know what they have to say? Why wouldn’t we?

“Michele Bachman is ‘a crazy girl with mean ideas’.” - Bill Maher

Happy Wednesday!

Wow! The first full day of Summer 2011!

How are you doing out there?

Beautiful. The world is awake, alert and spending currency in local neighborhoods.

Please step out there and spend at least $1 to $5 bucks a day at your local delis, co-ops, mercados, farmers markets, farms and local businesses and any place where your money is good enough and you won’t be treated like a piece of garbage.

Please spend no matter how tiny your budget may be. Consider at least making a one to five dollar budget/donation/contribution and put your money down on counters with conviction because if you sweat for that currency then it means that it came with the toil and love of your labor and hard work.

I rather spend daily currency in local neighborhoods then giving it away to political campaigns. Do you know how far three hundred dollars will feed a village in any third world country? Look it up. It’s humbling.

Are Americans above hard work?

I don’t think so.

Through college, I was a barista, waitress, hotel maid (yes, I scrubbed toilets and cleaned after others’ messes). I was never above the hard work and I didn’t treat patrons like mierda because I had illusions of grandeur to be an executive. There is nothing (in the world) more noble, just and sexier than a human who works for their living and that’s 99% of the world. Entiende. Understand.

Cheers!

When there is drought in the World as a Mayan Indiana I don’t pray to the rain Gods.

When there is drought in the World I pray to the Gods of humanity’s intelligence to help humans figure their way out of difficult situations with grace, beauty and know-how. Come on! Rain!

There is nothing more breathtaking than watching human geniuses make use of creative problem solving. I’m not some ancient idiot committing human sacrifices over here with cobwebs hanging off of me. Please. How educated are you about modern Indianos?

I’m modern. I’m contemporary. I’m a modern-contemporary Indiana. I’m not a genius but I’m damn smart because this culture took me out of the jungles and brought me here and made me in their image, although I’m more often than not repulsed walking down American streets because frankly…

Why is it that Americans take liberties with others on streets?

I’m not open season. I’m not a walking billboard. I’m human. Don’t ask me for money and don’t assume that I’m lonely and I need a stranger’s conversation to lift me up. That’s not how it is and that’s not how it works.

Americans equate an alone human in public with loneliness. Indianos equate an alone human with strength. You’re never alone. Every individual is a village.

I hate that stupid ideas are implemented.

Why did state hospitals shutdown in Minnesota?

What the hell did the republicans do to everyday Minnesotan civilians and citizens walking out to get groceries, frequenting coffee shops and restaurants?

By allowing republicans to shutdown state hospitals you left the average citizens to deal with “crazies” out on our streets. Who do you think you are travelling by limos and never having to step foot on Minnesotan streets and being forced to deal with crazies? I’m just calling it as I see it. The emperor has no clothes on and I can point and laugh all I want because I won’t pretend that your royal garb isn’t your naked ass hanging out on the streets. Why do politicians hate hard working class citizens and taxpayers so much?

The most difficult people to deal with on city streets are people with mental illnesses – they have zero to no boundaries.

What the hell did you do to Minnesota’s Streets?

Oh, you don’t like the concept of spending your republican dollars on the public sector?

Well, get over it. Average citizens are beginning to act out verbally aggressively towards crazies out on the streets because crazies have taken over our streets and their rabid behavior will not do and it cannot do because it’s not good enough. Frankly, daily I have to tell people “Do not cross my boundaries in public” because they don’t know public conduct and behavior as others do in larger metropolises.

No, I’m not here to charm you – I’m neither a psychopath nor a narcissist. I’m a thoughtful curmudgeon. (Tongue in cheek.)

Al Quie, what were you thinking closing down state hospitals in Minnesota? Did you get dropped on your head as a little boy?

Finally, the fruitation of Al Quie’s bad ideas are paying off.

Contemporary state hospitals don’t have to look, implement and be nasty like the early 1900’s state hospitals. It’s a brave new world out there and republicans should give back Minnesotans their streets to hard workers, walkers, bikers, patrons of local establishments and tax payers who financially contribute to local economy. Folks, who happen to want to walk and bike to local establishments without crazies getting in their faces. Get out of your limos from time to time and deal with what citizens have to deal with on a daily basis.

Some idiot republican Baby-Boomer politician left Generation X and Y stranded out on the streets to fend off crazy people. You should be spanked - hard - for such an injustice. The trouble is you’d like it due to some psychological warped ideals on punishment and kinky sex. I’m not judging, it’s just that you’re public figures. Get it together or hold elections.

If that isn’t crazy politics then I don’t know what is?

Al Quie, could be institutionalized for putting taxpaying citizens at risk. Bad ideas are crazy any way you look at them. Please don’t implement bad ideas no matter how much money it’ll save your cronies. Please. Think about long term consequences for the people, by the people and of the people. Have politicians lost their minds? Oh, you won’t ask questions and challenge the status quo then artists will because we’re at an idealistic ground zero. There is only one place to go and that’s up.

What do you mean Sarah Palin promotes shooting caribou from a helicopter? That’s not a role model that’s a mean girl. Mean girls disguised with cuteness and idiotic rhetoric are scary. Run!

Do you know why I don’t find jokes about incest - funny, because I’ve met and spoken to the little kids who’ve been raped by their siblings, parents, uncles, aunts and grandparents.

If little kids of raped incest don’t find incest rape funny then neither do I.

It would humble you to the marrow to listen to these little kids’ stories. You’d never find incest funny ever again for as long as you’d live.

I was turned off by an MTV audience. Why didn’t the audience “boo” and get up and leave rather than supporting a stupid joke at the MTV Awards? Have Americans lost their wits? Children get raped daily by family members. What a vulgar T.V. culture and its stupid entertainers who go along with stupid writers of stupid gags. Think! It doesn’t cost anything.

Our National debt was not implemented today or even three years ago. Our National debt was implemented during the Bush administration. Debt doesn’t happen overnight. If you look at the history of today’s faulting economy then look back a decade and place blame where it needs to be placed with the republican party. Pardon, republicans but you left the Nation in economical shambles. Shame on you! Your ancestors are rolling in their graves. Have your ancestors abandoned you?

Now, that’s worth any Mayan prayer – I don’t expect any miracles because I’m logical, with my wits intact and I can see the hilarity behind everything. Now, that’s true power. Humor and comedians. Get over being Politically Correct because our comedians are leading the way… Comedians 1,000 to nothing. Politicians; zero. What a baseball game to watch it comes with punch lines!

I skipped over the Colbert Report and a close friend suggested a Mr. Bill Maher. I fell in love with the Boob-tube all over again. “Michelle Bachman is ‘a crazy girl with mean ideas.’” What does a rich flower shopkeepers’ daughter know about the plight of human starvation?

Cheers.

Gabriela

I raise a glass to all except bullies, mean adults and charlatans because they suck and everybody knows it but rarely anybody corrects their behavior. What happened to an American village? Why isn’t it okay to say “No! That’s not acceptable behavior!” Please.

Happy Tuesday!

(Corrections; I don’t hate anything living or anyone – I’m not that shallow.

I hate rabid behavior.

I can hate rabid behavior all I want and I was taught that we don’t live as Islands, we live as villages. Get it? You’re never alone…If you bring someone into your village (sadly, to say some people will not disclose their history - so cuidado. Be careful) then it means that you stand for that person and that can only mean that you trust them with your life, NOT because you expect anyone to ever save you from yourself and others but because you expect civilized conduct from them. I’m polite and courteous everywhere I go because I’m an adult. I’m breathing. Are you breathing? I’ve been conned enough as an adult to write an entire book about it. When I see con-artistry and rude behavior from others I think; ‘Nope, Nope; I’m not going there with you.’ There are no strings attached in this world. Not from my perception of interactions amongst civilized humans. Put on the table only what you can offer. (No matter how many people may trust an individual for their status it’s not like trusting them for their actions. Get it? Get it? Ha! Ok. Enough. Basta. Behavior modification. Need say more?) And if I get cranky it’s because I’m caged-in (correction: Not “lost” – nobody is ever lost) or tired. Cheers!

Uptown Minneapolis, Minnesota no music after 10 P.M. City Ordinance!

There is an ordinance out in the Universe about no music past 10:00 P.M. in the Uptown Minneapolis, Minnesota neighborhood and industrial public establishments due to small children in the neighborhood.

I can understand many points of view from many different parties discussing openly what it would mean to an Uptown and Minneapolis’ economy and culture. That’s it. Ultimately after many days of listening, discussing, breathing and thinking about this ordinance if I were a judge I would have thrown this ordinance in the recycling bin. Per say.

Children only eat when adults decide to cultivate a safe, culturally diversified and economically viable communities for everyone.

Yes, when thinking about this ordinance I had to consider children. Absolutely, how could I not? I hope that we raise our children in Uptown, Minneapolis Minnesota because I believe in this economy, this “politico-punk”, “pink collar” (Correction from “color” to “collar”; we laughed about it) and artistic Mecca of a Minneapolis economically artistic and politico advancements in contributions. This is rich soil and you can’t ask for anything better than decent, honorable, honest and hard working humans no matter what their caste-system and/or class status may be.

Yes, when thinking about this no amplified musica past 10 P.M. ordinance I had to consider adults. Anyway I looked at it. It was like this; If adults can’t make a living in a peaceful manner then children don’t eat; (I did not write “silent” but in a peaceful and creative ways) then so be it.

Live and let Live.

I Had to think about some of the safest children I’ve observed; The safest children I’ve observed live in “SoHo”, N.Y.C.

I’m not an expert simply observing behavior because I think like a sociologist out on the field (I can’t help it I was conditioned to think that way in Global communications analysis.)

The streets of SoHo are busy and civilized. People know who knows the culture and who pretends to. Even though it’s noisy those children are insulated by a community of caring adults. I can take a guess that participant children of inner-cities are cared for greatly because the communities are mindful about what happens to inner city healthy / thriving / and caring / street savvy children. How does any global inner city want to conduct itself is their own business. However, silence reminds me too much of a Gestapo Nation. Please, don’t silence musica in a thriving cultural Metropolis of a wonderfully progressive ciudad. Yet, don’t leave your garbage, piss and broken glass for children to step over in the mornings. Not cool any way you look at it.

“I’m sorry.” As you say in the Northern Tundra for everything. I was taught “Sorry is for when you purposely hurt someone especially when…intentionally” I will be very direct about the following points that I heard that were valid that I will directly address… Hang on. Stay planted. It’s like balancing a skateboard and all it takes is shifting the distribution of weight while travelling at a velocity and curving with obstacles. (Oh, the light bulb went on? Ha!)

Anyway, I may have looked at It - the economy could slump and that’s not necessary because it’s already difficult for working class American folks of any status as it is. (No, I’m not a projectionist, not a “Wall Street guru” (not my words) nor an economist. I think with “little kid” Indians’ common sense and with the strength and dignity of a grown woman.

There has to be a compromise between all and nothing.

I don’t believe in black and white philosophies; I believe in many aspects and variables on the spectrum of life travelling back and forth from one to another. If I argue for only one side of an argument it’s because I’m being a devil’s advocate. If I’m a devil’s advocate it’s because I want to challenge the status quo, not for my benefit but for the benefit of those around me. I already know how I feel about many aspects of culture. No matter how poor I was for three years in my twenties I saved pennies to travel to foreign lands. Now, having a little “piggy bank” is more of a joke because I no longer HAVE to save my pennies but I love to save them anyway. It’s a reminder of all the Chinese luck in the World. I do afford the luxury to travel anywhere in the World at a moment’s notice if I wish to but the problem with that is always forgetting a toothbrush and trying to get over the urge to want to go home more often than not once arrived someplace new. If you’ve travelled extensively than you realize that the only place you want to be is home. It can become chaotic and unorganized travelling on the fly but it teaches you one thing for certain. Patience. Tranquillo.

I’ve just recently begun to drive in my mid-thirties. I’d always flown and I had no idea that driving was so meticulous and beautiful. I have yet to drive across country and see West of the United States of America by car. What’s the point in all of this…Please. I put my mouth where my money is and I contribute by making conscientious choices daily to spending currency in at least one neighborhood (if not more) and my money is pure currency. When citizens generate pure currency it means that they acquired it through the sweat of their brow and there is nothing sexier, nobler and kinder then hard earned currency. That’s the value of my currency and I spend it with love, kindness and mindfulness of where it goes because we work hard for it.

It took a “pink collar” working class sound engineer to teach me how to tip well to wait staff and bartenders on my own Minneapolis turf. He tipped better than all of the millionaires, billionaires and trust fund babies that I love, run around with and hold intense passionate discussions with in private. No, I don’t consider myself special nor am I a trust fund baby… Everybody is well connected from the streets to the penthouses, the difference between you and I - is that I don’t need anybody else’s currency to develop anymore status so I don’t walk around with my hand out because I don’t need or want for anything from anybody except information and that comes by the bucket loads from all sorts of people who want me to stay in the up and up otherwise, they know that I would happily hole up and never be seen again. Why not? Right. Right. It’s easier to hole up than contributing socially.

It’s easy to want to disappear from a culture of so much neediness, laziness, greed and want. I grew up, I pay taxes and I’m a citizen. What more status do I need than that? So I don’t need to sell you on my ideas. “Cash on the barrel head…” Said the American Pioneers and they were right. You pay for your own causes without selling it to others because if the ideas are just and wise then they’ll stand the test of time and people will purchase hard earned work without ever having to go out and solicit for currency because that comes short of begging. “Just tell them that you don’t have any money and power. Just like you do when you meet strangers at penthouses and you tell them that you dish wash for a living.” He laughed hard. “Everybody will leave you alone because they’ll think of you as a ‘nobody’ and you already know what that’s all about. Peaceful.” He warmly smiled and I knew immediately what he meant by that.

I don’t steal, beg or borrow currency I generate it through hard work and not through donations, trust funds nor am I campaigning to become the next presidente of the World or some grandiose ideal like that. Our investors come to us. I’m not in the business of searching out investors. I’m in the business of making films and that’s what I do for a living and in turn I get to explore, experience and I get to put down my hard earned cash on any aspect of culture that I think might be interesting to watch, but not enough to live inside a bubble of consumerism. I want to be able to support live musica past 10 P.M. in my neighborhood, otherwise one of the purist aspects of culture dies along with the economy, musica. I don’t believe in blaring music in any neighborhood. I don’t. So, maybe acoustic music could be an alternative to this patio ordinance. The neighbors and the bar owners will have to come to some understanding – a middle of the road compromise.

I came back to Minnesota because I was commanded to come back here by Elders and to contribute as a mature and imperfect adult even though all I want to do daily is run barefoot through jungles and eat tropical fruit handpicked and fresh. I’ve seen drastic economic variance throughout many cultures and I’ve seen that people have developed aspects of culture and economy better in other places than we do here in America. In America it’s always a concept of “What will you give me…” “I want…” “Why do you get to and I don’t…” We live in a culture of “sales people” and “moochers”. What does that have to do with no amplified musica past 10 P.M in Uptown? Everything. Will we live in a society with no balance? Will we have dead quiet Gestapo Nation streets or blaring streets with element hanging about? A middle of the road, compromise no? Yes. Si. How about acoustic musica (only) past 10 P.M. on outdoor patios? – I’d contribute my hard earned currency towards acoustic music. Who wouldn’t? Please.

(I’m stalling…this is good. I’m thinking.)

If adults move into an inner city, please be prepared as a parent for the city to be a bit dirty, smelly, loud and continuous flow of traffic. If you choose to raise children at the hub of any inner city then very different rules apply to raising children in the city as far as safety rules; first children’s safety and concern and second, for the communities’ safety and concern. When you’re raising children you’re not raising them in a bubble. Believe it or not neighborhood adults keep an eye out for children if we come across them wandering which is rare in Minneapolis because the contemporary parents of these children are always with them and I think this is a good thing when a child is a child in an inner city.

If you move into the inner city to raise children then please don’t be shocked at the thriving inner city arts, culture and musica. These aspects of cultural and intellectually-creative businesses bring in a great deal of revenue to Uptown, Minneapolis Minnesota. Let us not forget that people are truly important yet what kind of a culture do you want to cultivate?

I don’t believe in this city silence ordinance, because it reminds me too much of WWI and WWII Gestapo Nation and Cubano Nation. So, what’s next a loud speaker will announce a bedtime regiment? I’m an adult and I live in an inner city and I think that cities will change over time but the economy is what it is. We need to give it time to cultivate, grow and prosper for a while longer. I don’t know. I’m opposed to being stopped on public streets if I haven’t broken a single law. Get it? Baile. Dance. Be peaceful and prosper. Seriously. Contributions are being made daily. If public peaceful establishments would stay open until 5 A.M like the peaceful and economical dancing cultures that thrives in Latino Americana – then, we could all expect a change for those people connecting to musical raw form. Musica has stayed real since the beginning of its time no differently than nature or weather for that matter…Cheers!

*) “Businesses will suffer…” She said about the silent patio ordinance. I listened to Her because she was talking in a serious and concerned voice and I could do nothing but be human with her and love her in that moment of humanity’s imbalance in the cry for economic stability.

I listened because what else - is - there to do in an adult World where she is my elder no matter how I see it. She made sense emotionally, logically and with kind reason. She was a facially tattooed woman of the world because she was real to the core of her soul to the marrow of the bone. I recognized her as something graceful like a contemporary punk ballerina. What was there not to respect in a woman that’s obviously been to war and back again and survived to become a well rounded and intelligent Woman about World current events. I could sail the World with a human like this because the ocean doesn’t judge you but “there’s always larger fish to…” (See, “'Mad Libs' approach to writing about learning to think when reading. You may not get it now. But think about it for 30-seconds and then forget it. This will come back to you when you do anything with writing and the structure in the construction of words will become all too clear. I love reading other people’s blogs. The world got tiny…What are you writing about?)

Cheers to you and yours!

Cheers to us and ours!

Gabriela

P.S. May all the travelers of the World have safe passage through all regions as World Citizens and Civilians.

Pura Vida.

To the Good Life.

Peace.

Paz.

Live and let live.

P.S. Don’t you know the world got tiny?

Amigos, for those of you hitting the road today on tours and work for the next year may my Mayan prayers travel alongside your ancestors. I’ll meet you after all the patrons have left for a dusk desert hike. Cheers!

I raise a moment of silence for our North Minneapolis neighbors, citizens and civilians. I’ve been carrying you around in my heart for the last few weeks.

Runners all throughout the World. Peace. May you compete as brothers and sisters and not as mere competition for the sake of it. May you see each other through and accomplish mental and physical endurance upon miles. May my Mayan prayers run along your ancestors who will run alongside you and guide you to make the best choices possible in your athletic heroism. Thank you for contributing to this Universe. Incredible lives!

I’m dancing to musica somewhere in the World tonight because it’s sacred as so is la langua del cuerpo. Friends, I’ll see you when I see you. Cheers! Happy Birthday to weekend people!

P.S.S. Realizations: {A slow and painful decade of meditation is finally beginning to payoff. Last night I transformed from snapping turtle into bald eagle. It was like the Flash, painful and bizarre yet extraordinarily brilliant. I thought it would take another year but no, it kicked into full throttle last evening at dusk and I broke free from its shell.

Extraordinary experience into adulthood. I can’t explain to you how magnificent that was to take a vow of silence unless we come across and you’re on fire, stuck or choking then... Tranquillo, everybody. I’m sharing for your benefit. Life is beautiful, no? Si. Yes. Yes. Right. Right. No mas. Enough. If culture wants to be ugly on its own then let it. Rude culture is like a “Bridezilla” Show. No matter how beautifully dressed the bride is and no matter how beautifully video graphed the content is… it’s still of a woman screaming her head off. Need say more? You can’t help but be turned off to the bone.

I’m proud of the women I love. They’re the beauty and grace in the curvature of a ballerina’s arm. Brilliant.}

(*) (Another blog for another day)…All I have to say is Russian-Jewish Great-Grandmothers and Grandmothers on our Downtown and Uptown Minneapolis Neighborhood streets – Do you know what lethal combination of beautiful women that is? Common on! Think about it. If global media demands you to buy products then I challenge you to think quietly about ideas in how to contribute to the World. Moving on. It’s a whole blog in itself.) ((*)) The combination is lethal because its beauty and grace intertwined and no matter how much people may disagree amongst each other they uphold to a history of their ancestors’ civilized public outlook in conduct, demeanor and behavior.

Important side note: (*) If you’re rude to people then I think that I can take an educated guess that you’ve never held a starving baby in your arms in any orphanage in the World before. Immediately I think that you don’t know that HUMAN love is above self love. I don't have to campaign it to you nor sell that philosophy because it stands on its own merit. Lovely. Human Love is Platonic love for others’ Humanity.

I can also make a wild guess that you’ve never had to wear the same set of clothes for a year. Try it sometime. It will humble you to the core of your marrow. No, I don’t have to take any artistic license when writing about life. No, I don’t have to lie about anything because I know what sacrifices come with shielding another from a spare through the heart.

What, you want me to write about 800 interviews I recorded in one single year with children in the state of Minnesota who were raped, molested, beaten and kidnapped. I write because culture must make agreeable common sense for all safety and many aspects of culture are turned upside down. If only culture would simply tilt on its other axis but it takes time and weather fluctuations for it to rotate on its head.  (I don’t know if that translated?)

Correction #1: (Oops, the HTML coding for fotografias. On it! Done. Thanks. Still working out my technical kinks. The engineers are brilliant but I’m not when it comes to this sort of HTML coding.) Thank you.

(Correction #2: Scientific Studies have proven that people with Synesthesia can feel, taste and hear color. To smell color has not yet been proven or disproven. Cuidado. Careful. People hear what you say while you’re walking down public streets. Misinformation is misinformation. I became an Eagle once again tonight as I walked four miles through city streets – I was humbled by the very culture which I’m trying to reflect back as a snapping turlte. No mas snapping turtle. Basta. Enough. It’s not good enough. It won’t do. I snapped (no I was not turned upside down on my shell) at a woman walking down the street who had all the conviction in the world in her voice about her intellectual expertise. She was rabidly babbling about how people could smell color and I became completely appalled not so much by what she was saying but how she was broadcasting it down the street like she was the Gods of the World. She clearly needed to assert her intelligence and that’s brain damaged behavior nothing more and nothing less. Don’t you get it? Indians are reflecting back the uglier aspects of cultural behavior? I’m taking a vow of silence when walking down the streets amongst strangers no matter how damaging people’s behavior may be. Classism, competition and elitism are hurting our American people. I can understand why people drive cars. It’s like a womb container, noiseless and safe. Something, in the back of my head told me to drive instead of walking four miles today. I did the opposite and got sucked into someone else’s melodrama and I created an imbalance in the World but I’m going to correct it tonight. The day is not over yet! I’m finding musica somewhere in the World tonight because musica will save American’s dignity and soul from emotional travesty. Ah, I was taught to be the better man. In the East Coast a punker would have ripped you a new ass____ walking down the street talking like that and taking up so much air. Here, in the Northern Tundra; I’m sorry for dismissing you so. Tough lessons learned in a rabid cultural outlook. I don’t smell color. How incredible would that be! The End. Moving on. Next.

Happy Thursday! It’s not over yet.

Many responsibilities were met today!

Aloha. How are you? Right. Right.

Haiku #Pre-important

I asked a lovely dinner

Companion: “_____, what does New Orleans need?”

No hesitation. “A New Levy”.

Haiku #Pre-important

I asked a lovely facially

Tattooed woman, “____, what does North Minneapolis

Need?” No hesitation with direction.

Haiku #Pre-important

“North Minneapolis needs people to

Buy the boarded-up houses from the banks.”

She shifted her weight. Thoughtful.

Haiku #Pre-important

“My neighborhood needs for the

Cops to leave our black neighbors alone.”

She went inside I understood.

Haiku #Pre-important

“Driving is cheaper than the

Bus.” She said and I wondered about

How Minneapolis’s bus system failed…

Two points: A) 6-billion dollars

A finders’ reward could be…

Haiku #11.5

…Implemented. In accounting don’t you

Have to account for every piece of

Haiku #12

Shouldn’t 6-billion make headline news?

P.S. Ah, four miles here I come.

The downtown Farmer’s Market was as sophisticated as ever.

It was more like a N.Y.C. subway system with its permitted musicians than Boston panhandlers.

I believe in an even barter and exchange of services, ideas and contributions. If you play music then I will consider making a donation but I don’t want to be solicited, bullied nor asked for money out on the streets because I silently shoot-it down faster than you can blink. I, too, work hard for my money. I don’t beg, borrow or steal because I’m a thinking, breathing, reading and writing human brain, body and soul. (I know-I know we’ve held conversations about this.) I don’t buy anything that I don’t think is worth my daily budget whatever that may be for each home then that is their choice.

All I can do is contribute to what takes time and energy to cultivate. Otherwise, I don’t put my hands on it, because to create beauty through communication is to sacrifice time and energy.

P.S.S. What do feminists make of burlesque dancing? (I have to research that).

I’m trying to make up my mind about how to write about contemporary feminism and chivalry.

-----  -----  -----

What do feminists think of this?

-----  -----  -----

“Peaches are a lot like women...and yes fool this is a peach...some are old and rotten and some are young and mealy. However most are slightly bruised but still seemingly perfect. However if you ignore the bruises, the minor imperfections, those peaches can still make your mouth water with delight.” He wrote.

*) (Okay, the question was rhetoric-rhetoric. Chiste. Broma. Joke. Joke. Like "Mad Libs" try to make an association. Work your brain. It’s hilarious! This is what cutting a film is like. One idea leads to another until an idea gets formed into an excellent thought.)

(I thought it could be an interesting take on male and female feminist points of view?)

(This will give you a run for your intellectual currency. (Editing and Associations are like “Mad Libs” you have to make the connections to connect the dots to reason and logic. Fun! I love associations. What is there not to love about them? No matter how random a story is edited in American cinema, storytelling and communication seems rather linear even though the stories are made not to look it. Get it? Moving on.)

Is sexuality in America a Religious Construct or an Economic one?

I’m not advocating for anything. I don’t tell adults how to think about anything.

I’m simply asking questions to think about further discussions with incredibly kind, amazing and intelligently creative geniuses. Goodness, geniuses take my breath away watching them work with their hands. They construct not destruct. (Basta. Enough! I’m down from my Costa Rican Indigenous, North Shore, New England, East Coast, Duluth Minnesota and Minneapolis Minnesota soap-box.)

To all those dealing with Natural disasters my prayers have been with you for three decades. I pray to your ancestors to restore…

Cheers!

“All men are equal before fish.” – Herbert Hoover

Happy Wednesday!

Aloha. I made no time to come back to this blog yesterday. As a matter of fact I took an hour long siesta and that was that. It was a rainy evening with a book and a cup of mate they were incredible.

“Moderation is the key to success” My grandmother kept saying to me throughout my teens and twenties. I believed her with every fiber of my being as I weaved the tapestry of my life along with her fibers and colors.

45th random thought or so here in this intro (If you picture the written words then you’re creating cerebral visual neurological pathways. Ha! Incredible): Correcting Ingles grammatical and spelling errors is frustrating! I’m learning to breathe through editing because editing seems to be a “beach-combing” for sea shells process and that seems to take time much more time than just skimming the horizon.

Alright.

Haiku #1

What creative ideas will become

Implemented for health care when a Government

Shutdown occurs? What will happen?

Haiku #2

Would private medical facilities in

The State volunteer their services to its

People? Please regard Americans’ needs.

Haiku #3

“Perkins Restaurant filed bankruptcy.” I

Held my breath for a Minnesota economy.

Silent and thoughtful about… workers.

Haiku #4

“Good sleep, excellent nutrition and

Exercise will help you stay at peace.”

He said and I believed.

Haiku #5

No, actually as a grown

Woman I don’t get bored with people.

I have a deeper value-system.

Haiku #6

A deeper value-system than you’d

Care to know or think about. I

Don’t take prescriptions for ADHD.

Haiku #7

Personally, I use more than

10% of my brain through visual exercises

And applying random information.

Haiku #8

Thriving creative problem solving. What’s

The point of coming up with ideas

That fall apart? Right. Right.

Haiku #9

I learned mental discipline through

Visual techniques. Those were frustrating hours of

Visual exercises as a teen.

Haiku #10

I trained for three-months, once

To run a 100 mile marathon and

That’s like writing. Endurance.

Haiku #11

I didn’t run in the

Race but I did get up at

Five and exercised; last runner.

Haiku #12

I know what runners look

Like at 50 miles. Some look strong.

Powerful. Sharp. Smart. Alive. Animals.

Haiku #13

“Feel the relaxation feeling.” said

A professor to a group laying-down on

A floor. I breathed deeply.

Haiku #14

“In your mind’s eye envision

The track and every detail of it.

Do that for an hour.”

Haiku #15

He walked away. I went

To work on my mental exercises. I

Walk daily to honor him.

Peace.

“The fact is that even art is subject to fashion.” - Hugo Pratt

Happy Tuesday!

Yes, I’m aware its warmer weather! I’m also aware of the date in Western American concept of time – I perceive writing-out the date as a conditioned discipline and a writing exercise nothing more and nothing less.

Yes. I’m here. I’m present and I’m alive. Hey, at least I showed up, right? My Father says, “…90 percent of life is simply showing up…” Even if I get the Western date wrong every single day from now until… I will know that the sun rose and the sun set. How about that sunrise this morning, hey (Correction from “he” to “hey”)? Need say more? Next.

Now, when I write classist, racist and social labels – It’s only because I hear them being used in contemporary language. It doesn’t mean that I use them in my daily life. I’ve been called every name in the book as far as racism is concerned. Racist labels don’t faze me anymore nor will classist nor racist labels affect me ever again. I laugh, what else is there but a good belly laugh in the face of a moronic remark.

As for classism that’s a tricky one - isn’t it? That’s mainly all body language and that is a potent langua. Have no envy of others let us all grant peaceful passages through the World yet let us address cultural and racist issues for what they are. Words are words and they’re not like actions that’s for sure. I’m granted to write anything I please as a “middle-aged” (another blog for another day) writer and I will stand by every word I write because my name’s on it. Need say more?

I was taught to never be afraid to write any word in any language and that was at a “Writer’s Workshop” so I’m sure they knew better than I did when they taught me that model of literary philosophy. See? Nothing escapes me. Sorry, I’m the daughter of a retired psychologist. Nothing gets past (Correction: from “pass” to “past”) these folks.

I’m not afraid to write any word and I never will be. You can’t teach “Political Correctness” unless you teach the meaning of “Spic”, “Nigger” and “Honky” (Correction from “Donkey” to “Honky” I did have to laugh about that typo). Do you understand because knowledge without wisdom is worthless? Knowledge without wisdom becomes “brain damaged” ideas about learning and teaching.

Vocabulary then becomes rhetoric and people know that they shouldn’t use certain words but they don’t know why and a cycle of misunderstanding, racism and resentment grows larger by the minute in a room full of pink elephants. Address “Political Correctness” head on because that seems to be the biggest literary joke in this new century. Ha! Ha! Ha! I’m laughing. No, seriously. I am.

About social on-line media. Goodness people are hilarious! I seriously let out laughter when I read through some posts. I love the adult world of on-line social media and the small group of family, friends, former school mates and people I’ve personally met and held conversations with.

I laugh so hard at times, I’m inspired and I enjoy writing whatever I find necessary and interesting to comment about. I don’t comment for my benefit I already know what I think and feel about things and more often than not I laugh because it’s really funny. I share in the benefit of my peers. People are so mammal and wonderful. On-line social media is a seasonal thing for me. I have time in the summer so I like to frequent that cyber space for about an hour in the early mornings and read through posts, look through fotos and make commentary. If it’s out there for our peers to see, read and experience then I like to look.

I’m a gawking monkey, too! If people stare at me in public then I stare back. I have no qualms about doing so. If I stare at other people and they stare at me I will gawk back even though I’m told its culturally rude to do so in this Northern Tundra, Minneapolis Minnesota cultura. Why not? Right. Right. I love the Mexican cultura. What is there not to love about it? They taught me (correction; from “e” to “me”) that I can look all I want. (Ah, Ingles grammar and misspellings are frustrating! Another blog for another day))

“The moment you leave the house, everything about you says, ‘look at me’” A fashion designer said to me while walking down Brattle Street and I understood fashion in a flash of a moment. “It’s free game, you can look at anybody – just don’t ever touch anybody.” (Which I never do, because I can smell people long before I get close enough to touch them – there is no need to touch people unless you’ve established trust – another blog for another day).

Cheers to you and yours. Cheers to us and ours.

Shall I?

-----  -----  -----

Oh, I need to…

I’ll try to come back to this blog today.

To all those dealing with natural disasters throughout the World my little Mayan prayers are with you. To our friends in New Zealand I’m wishing for the safe passage of your loved ones, families and friends. We watched with anticipation (Correction from “anticipations” to “anticipation”) as the news came over the wire, boob-tube and net. I’ll carry you in my thoughts through to the other end of today.

Gods, I’d like to listen to some new musica. I have thousands of musicians I have yet to research, but nothing’s claiming my musica player’s heart right now. Silence is always nice, no? Si. Yes.

“A very small degree of hope is sufficient to cause the birth of love.” –Stendhal

Happy Monday!

(Correction: Oh, Goodness, really! No, I’m not brain damaged and neither do I believe is Michele Bachmann. The lovely aspect of having a retired psychologist for a Father is that I have a clean psychological bill of health. If I were “crazy” my Father would have told me by now. He knows I’m overly emotional and a snapping turtle. Haiku #21 refers to my first year of school in the United States in the fourth grade I was catapulted into “brain damaged” educational and cultural ideas. Our teachers taught only one calendar and that Columbus was a Hero; now that’s brain damaged education. I knew better; I learned to disappear amongst my peers and not say anything – I had been taught differently about the World. I wear my helmet every time I strap on a skateboard. Now that’s common sense. Right. Right.)

Furthermore, dates are completely arbitrary to me – that’s a Western American ideal of looking at time and time frame. It doesn’t mean anything to me to write out a Western date.

Aloha, “Buenas” (as Los Mexicanos say – I love how Mexicans gawk at everyone who may walk-by in public).

Good morning.

Shall we?

*) Note: [Shall we? (Yes, tongue in cheek. What an expression! Yes, a bit old-fashioned snobby yet rather direct adequate communication.) No, this isn’t about classism this is about a lesson in language and you get to be the judge of what you believe-in and stand for. I already know what I believe and stand for and I get stronger about my ideas every day. I was born, I survived, I live and I’m beginning to thrive because I think and I can also convey excellent meaning to those thoughts. Shazam! I’m just starting to read the Batman Comics and I’m floored to the vase of my soul (I meant to write that, indeed). (Brilliant minds! I’m floored by others and their contemporary work – I’m suspended in awe and wonder (correction; from “wander” to “wonder”) of their beauty and creation rather than destruction. Incredible! Thank you! To a man by the name of… Artist Bob Kane and Writer Bill Finger (I’d have to research these artists – my husband handed me a little comic book and after five years I’m finally beginning to read the fictional character of Batman’s tragic story. I hold my breath sometimes while I’m reading because I’m moved by the artistry of these stories.]

Tiny Contributions and responsibilities have been fulfilled thus far into the day by leaps and bounds. Que vida. What a life.

I’m trying to slow down to one notch and transcend from there as I make my way unto the other end of today. Many more responsibilities and fun require to be fulfilled before the day is done. My most important part of my dia today since there is no snow on the ground is to get out for at least one hour and ride “Desilu II” (The Name of my skateboard another blog for another day).

My Mayan prayers (not religiously) are with those displaced (NOT misplaced persons because no one is lost) throughout the World due to Natural Disasters. We’ve held our breaths as news has arrived over the wire, on the Boob-Tube and over the net. People are watching as the World is changing. Yes, the environment should be a main topic of discussion in the next Presidential running election.

*) In the news – why is it news when a Politician takes his pants off in front of a web camera? If it’s between two consenting adults I don’t want to know about it. That’s somebody’s private business. Furthermore, if I were in charge to delegating huge fines to politicians for misinformation and misconduct then I’d fine them where it would hurt most – their pocket books.

How about 50% of politicians household annual income for a five year limit if their penises are hanging out for the World to see and if they are misinforming the public about historical events?

That’ll make any politician think twice before having their penises hanging out for the public to watch as news stories. Politicians who don’t have a writing staff or at least implementing commendable people who get to say “No!” to spoilt political adults and their bad ideas does create mediocre outcomes.

Cuidado. Careful, children are watching.

That’s not a role model just an ordinary politician flapping in the wind.

Anchor that sail down, please.

Why not take a low-income housing child to a ball game instead of holding marital affairs – need say more? No body’s perfect yet anyone can and should rectify their behavior as quickly as possible – if need be.

Otherwise, we are mammals and according to the psychology of Bonobos it is in our nature, too, as well to have our male human species want to show off their penises. I guess it’s nothing new in psychology so I don’t think twice about it.

Moving on.

Next.

Lesson.

P.S.S. I don’t believe that “cause and effect” is an archaic concept in physics. To ask “WHY” cause and effect happens is only a part of the question. Cause and effect is not what is in question it’s how we ask questions that make sense to prove and disprove theories. Entiende. Understand.

Source from Wikipedia and an all Google search

The bonobo  Pan paniscus, previously called the pygmy chimpanzee and less often, the dwarf or gracile chimpanzee, is a great ape and one of the two species making up the genus Pan. The other species in genus Pan is Pan troglodytes, or the common chimpanzee. Although the name "chimpanzee" is sometimes used to refer to both species together, it is usually understood as referring to the common chimpanzee, while Pan paniscus is usually referred to as the bonobo.

One source reports a lifespan of 40 years in captivity. There is no data about longevity in wild-living bonobos or on gender differences.

Bonobos are far less aggressive and dominating than other apes such as chimpanzees.

The Bonobo is endangered and is found in the wild only in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Along with the Common Chimpanzee, the Bonobo is the closest extant relative to humans. Because the two species are not proficient swimmers, it is possible that the formation of the Congo River 1.5–2 million years ago led to the speciation of the Bonobo. They live south of the river, and thereby were separated from the ancestors of the Common Chimpanzee, which live north of the river.

P.S.

To the Japanese people and to those that I know, appreciate, respect and admire of your many familial anciential heritages - Happy Birthday to you who have el fin de semana birthdays. You were born, you live and you contribute to World peace, civility and respect. Thank you.

I’ve loved hearing many languages spoken on the streets of Minneapolis just this week alone. People are responsible, respectful, stoic and incredible in this part of the world. I never knew. Japanese, Russian and German langua are quite evident on our streets.

Well, I have many thoughts about World current events as I was taught academically to stay coherent and never to be daft or to lose my wits about current events so I stay tuned not only to World media but also to conversations, ideas and pictures and interpret to the best of my ability what I perceive the world to be. What else is there but a well rounded and informed global citizen? I try to keep up with current events as best as I know how to.

A man of the World recently suggested that I look up a major N.Y.C. online website and I had no idea how much online news media had changed since 2007. Most of my life consists of hours upon hours of research for historical and linguistic translations so it’s taken me over a decade to catch up with pop-culture of my peers of an American global generation. Recently in the last year I found a band by the name of “Queen” and I have still yet to look up the “Grateful Dead” and “Bob Dylan” (I know-I know. Please don’t make a face because it’s ugly to watch when it comes to pop cultural references. I’m still researching Mesopotamia’s history and language. Ha! Funny as hell to me, I know). If I were to live on an isolated Island and I could only take one album by one artist; then I would take the MTV’s Generational band “The The” album “Dusk”. After 20 years I’m still trying to decipher their lyrics. Brilliant!

P.S. It’s a little chilly this morning. I’m wishing you a peaceful and tranquillo dia. Looking forward to a sophisticated and classy downtown Farmer’s Market, garden-volunteering at a local establishment and digitizing hours upon hours of footage. I’ve been going since five and I have accomplished goals by leaps and bounds. It’s amazing how much people accomplish in one day.

My prayers will be with all those dealing with the aftermath of floods, fires, tornadoes, tsunamis, mountain slides, drought and any other natural disaster the world has been dealing with since more or less the beginning of time. How about those sun spots? No. Si. Yes. (Another blog for another day.)

“If truth is beauty, how come no one has their hair done in the library?” – Lily Tomlin

Happy Wednesday!

Good morning.

The birds are singing this morning right outside this porch window. Ah, summer 2011. Well, it cooled down drastically, thankfully. There was a little breeze out there earlier.

Aloha.

I have a lot of thoughts about much that is happening in World current events today simply as any other World adult peer does.

This is not an ode rather a dedication to the Japanese people as they peacefully, mindfully and intelligently rebuild and restructure their infrastructure combined along with their brilliant methods of less intrusive security technology. Thank you.

I write to the Japanese people because I have lived amongst Japanese ladies of the World and I have learned silent, calm and tough lessons through their wisdom.

I try to uphold to the Japanese civilized standard of culture in a Western country.

I would not be who I am today had I not met, dialogued and co-existed in close quarters for years amongst such lovely people who lead me to the ultimate road to maturity, self-responsibility and strength in character when a ship was going down they pulled me out of the water by demonstrating great role model responsibility for the sake of all instead of an individual. Thank you. I will never forget your faces for as long as I live.

What is so extraordinary about the Japanese breathing, thinking, creative and intellectual organic humans is that they are present in their daily lives and they have a history that can be traced back for as far as the memory of their ancestors.

I raise a moment of silence to our brothers and sisters of the Japanese ancestral heritage.

Amigos, please understand that I’m learning to rewrite English Haikus after fifteen years of not writing Haikus and translating from Spanish into English and into a Haiku form. I will try my best… to honor your tradition.

Happy Tuesday!

Aloha.

Congratulations to all of the High School and Secondary World Graduates of the Class of 2011.

Thank you for your incredible and remarkable contributions, sacrifices and services you’ve bestowed upon your communities, elders and youth – especially the adult leaders of the World through your wisdom, participation and perspective.

I write openly and directly to the Graduating Class of 2011 not because I’m an expert, a World leader, a parent (not yet anyway) nor a role model still-yet.

I write to the Graduating Class of 2011 because I, too, have the common experience of youth. I, too, made the great choices, excellent discipline to study and become a contributing peer to others towards the journey of graduation and into adulthood.

I write to the Graduates of 2011 because you are something special in the months and decade to come -- (yes, as a contemporary Mayan I don’t believe the Earth will end on December 2012 another blog for another day) -- You will be the epicenter of your World communities and you have done remarkable deeds thus far in getting educated to continue on a path to further learning, laughter and breaking bread amongst others as you enter adulthood. You get to be a guarded against harm and kept securely protected as travelers of the World amongst those who practice civility and respect to all.

The World of adulthood awaits your arrival in the next decade Graduating Class of 2011. Wow, what will become of your goals, aspirations, dreams and contributions by 2021?

Learning has become something of a politico nature for me because I’ve witnessed that not everyone in some parts of the United States of America and the World –  get the opportunity to read and write – I don’t take learning for granted and I never will.

Learning is not a luxury because it’s hard work nor is it a privilege because we’re not born knowing how to read and write (we start out at an even playing field along the journey to learning). Rather it is a life-given right for all to pick up literary skills, craft something significant from nothing with our own wits, bare hands and carve out a tranquillo lifestyle and a living as any self-sufficient, confident and respectful adults can and do every single day across the World.

Learning is about further equal opportunities to making contributions for the people, by the people and of the people.

To think about learning is one thing and to learn is quite another in the conceptualizing of creative problem solving and in the application of solutions through fair and just diplomacy. Not through manipulation or exploitive behavior from others. (Please, keep in mind that creative and justice based solutions aren’t delegated until all possible potential creative ideas have been exhausted. No matter how silly they may sound to others for the benefit of all and not just a few ideas are important to ponder. Yes, I’m politico about fairness, justice and I’m also -- anti -- about emotional, spiritual and physical bullies, because they are all, too, common in culture. What a pity. Moving on with this writing exercise and lesson. Next. Another blog for another day).

I’ve learned that learning doesn’t always happen in a classroom, necessarily. Learning is what you set your mind to understand, strive for in further knowledge of wisdom.

My generation is classified as something of a “Generation X” and our World peers are now taking center stage as World participants, contributors as World citizens and civilians and as World leaders striving for the overall majority of one Global community success in excellence and civility.

I’m writing to you (not for my sake but for yours because I already know many of these aspects of life to be true for me), we live in exciting times striving for towards positive change, hope, peace and solidarity when it comes to Humanitarian Laws against violent crime, poverty, hunger, environmental responsibility, free National healthcare and education for all World citizens and civilians as well as a united and fiscally responsible World Bank.

Graduates of the Class of 2011, you will come into your adulthood in the aftermath of Generation X’s wake. We’ll try our hardest to leave this world a better place than when we found it. Our turn has come as an entire Generation of X-ers to step up to the plate and every peer gets an intellectual whack at the ball. We’re ready to run the bases, catch, throw and ready to play with the honorable ideals of equal opportunity in the solidarity for the equality of rights for all. Cheers to all!

We’re ready to play peacefully, with the other team and their families’ best interests at heart. We’re ready to apply all of the necessary rules to humanitarian justice, communication and interaction in the game of life.

The World is watching to see what happens in the next 30 years as Generation X takes a stand and leads America out of poverty, illiteracy and violent crime. I’m on the sidelines cheering on my mates while I make tiny-tiny slow paced and well thought out Tortuga contributions. Those contributions frankly are not about me and mine but about you and yours. Cheers!

I’m humbled and amazed by all of the incredible contributions my peers make, daily, as they see fit for their families, loved ones, elders, friends and their communities.

I feel safe in the World because our Global generation is out there creating change and delivering an impact to a better future for their children, families, friends and loved ones, communities and neighborhoods. Our World peers are brilliant people. I only hope to become more like them by the end of my lifetime.

My role models are our Global peers of The Generation X, the MTV Generation and the Greatest Generation (and no, not everybody is a role model in every generation). I look to those that embody the excellence in contributions of true role models because they are strong and face into the winds of change to advance through nautical distances in creating progressive methods.

What is there not to like about excellent sailors navigating through rough and stormy waters?

These types of folks are spectacular, kind, generous, mindful, thoughtful and with boundaries.

These types of folks don’t live out their lives as if they were some caricature replica of themselves inside the boob-tube sounding and speaking like infomercial advertisements for some type of brand of dish soap or politico campaign for… Nor do they live out their lives as some defined slogan of what they want the World to perceive them to be as something that they have not yet achieved nor accomplished.

Many of our Global peers are hard working and don’t look to be rewarded or to be petted on the head and fed cookies. They are adults they don’t need whimsical affirmations that they are adults. They are grateful to be as they are with a roof over their heads and food on their tables nothing more and nothing less. They’re confident in the daily contributions they make.

My role models are real organic human flesh-and-bone thinking, breathing, creative and intellectually self-sufficient folks. No matter how much time passes between us, they can always call upon their peers be there to help in however capacity they can offer help.

As a generation we were taught to believe in a concept of “pass it forward” as in good deeds, words and thoughts. What else is there in emotional, intellectual and soul generosity when it comes to the contributions and the matters of the heart? Those types of contributions are more often than not more valuable than all of the currency in the Universe.

“You don’t have to like everybody, but you do have to respect them.” My Father kept telling me while I was a teenager year after year. Those words stayed with me every day of my life. I carry that proclamation on my sleeve rather than my heart.

No, I don’t go around outright crying (unless the spirit moves me) nor do I cry-wolf at a drop of a hat nor do I scream or yell in public places (unless cornered or provoked). My role models are this way and I like their stoic nature even though I don’t always understand it. Yet we are respectful of each other no matter what may come our way because humans are fallible and capable of mistakes.

Graduates, you will come across some people who are out of control. People, who will have a need to control others especially those that pretend to have everything under control.

You will meet people who create disrespect and miscommunication by marginalizing, ridiculing, mocking and pointing out your faults and cultural differences from theirs to make others feel small.

These types of people are seriously out of tune with their own lives. They will at times scream in your face especially in front of others and in public places. Some will go so far as kicking you out of establishments when you’ve been invited there in the first place without their knowledge. When you stand-up for the rights’ of others to co-exist as they can -- the oppressive ones will want to punish you simply because they lack communication to peacefully understand and think logically, reasonably and with calm tranquillo presence of mind.

Run!

That’s the clown in the middle of the road. Run away from “It” and not towards it. Run, I tell you. Run as far as you can from these fool hardy individuals. They will think that they know better and that they have something over you. But that is only in their perceived realities and deep neurological regions of their warped minds.

Don’t look back because they will hinder you – especially when they will want to eat from your soul. The World is this way and I won’t make any pretenses of it and/or for it.

People will try to set you back and some will succeed in taking advantage of you. Guard your soul (you can get over injuries, getting swindled and conned but as far as the soul is concerned – guard it) with every possible type of armor you have available to you. Guard your soul because some will try to provoke you and trick you into foolishness if you let them so don’t let them.

I’d like to think that what my Father meant by that expression was that I can dislike even go so far as having much distain for atrocious behavior and communication.

I won’t personally hold it against anyone to be human, to learn and to grow.

It is okay to move on to the next lesson unless someone brings harm to your front door then you can have words for them.

Yes, the adult World is just this real. [Lessons are learned just don’t grab anyone’s hand and place it over a fire or folks will run away maybe at first slowly but surely like Mayan Indians, barefoot through jungle floors -- (I run this way mainly because I’m flat footed and it feels better than any running shoes I’ve ever bought) -- and for miles upon miles across regions because we were built this way through ancestrywe all have our strengths and weaknesses. (The only way I can literally run this way, only, if I mentally understand a situation to be of grave consequence a matter of life and death and if there is an urgent need, otherwise, I’m too lazy to actually ever run so much as one block around anywhere)].

Graduates, when I write I write for you. I don’t write for myself because I’m already living the life that I planned, scheduled and designed to be my very own since the age of sixteen and I’ve made strides by leaps and bounds in that area of my life.

I live my life every day as a gift and I face into the winds of change. A new course must be taken to get around a point when the currents start dragging any vessel to shore. I throw my entire back into the wind and steer the helm while I hold a steady course. I will not crash my vessel amongst the rocky shores. I carry a beacon of hope and far off in the distance I can see light guiding and directing me away from the darkness of night sailing.

Graduates, may you be discerning and respectful of strangers as you enter a Global adult World. May you be protected by those who hold your best interests at heart and with love. May you be powerful to voice your well-constructed opinions as well as make excellent decisions not to purposely place others in the way of harm, prejudice and disaster.

May you take peer responsibility quite seriously for the wellbeing of those you interact with, regard as your friends, family and community to at least wish them good health and safe passage - As well as for strangers existing as travelers.

May you never be out of bounds with the integrity and dignity of any other grown adult – alive - or you will contribute to destruction rather than construction. And that will not do amongst the global adults which you will get to know, and trust to be true, just and honorable, otherwise – what did I write? Run!

May no harm ever come to you and yours especially through the motives and hands of those you may get to know but not trust completely because they have given you reason not to do so.

I don’t pray to the Hindu Gods, but I like the concept of their religious Karma and may that be enough will power for you to do unto others as you wish them to do unto you. Even if others are wrong, spiteful and disillusioned with their lives may all be respectful towards you in an even playing field in the playground of non-bullying adults.

Remember, if you make a fool and a mockery out of others while they try to weave the peaceful and meaningful tapestries of their lives then you will be the one out of control.

To instigate such foolish behavior most likely is not worthy of our contemporaries’ trust and that is everything when breaking bread and trying to build community not to destroy and divide it.

It’s okay to run, you know? - When your soul, body, spirit and mind are being placed under dangerous motives then you will know what to do. Indians have been doing this long distance running of hundreds of miles at a time barefoot since the beginning of their time. I whisper to you, run.

May peace guide you and yours through the rest of your days because you deserve peace, now that’s a frame of mind to strive for in the decade to come. Whatever may approach you in life -- may you be calm, cool and collected in all situations. May you act accordingly to any situation when it’s called upon for you to do so and when you know the timing is right otherwise you could end up shooting yourself in the foot - use common sense.

Life is this way. It’s a fine Russian ballet with its interludes, beauty, love and hate running through the veins of any passionate storyline along with backstage bathroom breaks, un-ruffling of tutus, wardrobe and set changes and the splendor of an audience appreciation in all their wonder and awe of the performance. Go, get ‘em, Tigres.

In a sincere gesture for your wellbeing and out of deepest respect I take my hat off to you and raise a moment of silence, Graduates of the Class of 2011.

Remember, you’re never alone and neither is anybody else.

We are connected by an intricate system of roots.

We’re here for your survival.

Sincerely,

Gabriela

P.S. As for our brothers and sisters across the World dealing with natural disasters and difficult weather – my prayers are with you as I travel throughout the day. For those of you who’ve lost close and loved ones – my Mayan prayers are also with you as I make my way through to the other end of this day.

I listened to a woman speak about her volunteer efforts to clean up North Minneapolis and one single tear shed from her right eye, suspended there on her high cheek bone for a long moment and then the tear fell down travelling on her skin and she was the most beautiful type of angel I’ve ever known while on Earth. Her compassion moved me to the core of my spirit. Tiny contributions are being made in the aftermath of our North Minneapolis cleanup efforts and this heat wave doesn’t help, but please keep in mind it’s not a fast race. Please take care of yourselves, drink plenty of H2O, get under shade as much as possible and, now, you have the great excuse to move quite slowly without others thinking of you as too lazy.

It’s going to be a hot one again – out there today (Cuidado: Careful: It’s the kind of heat that…) as I felt the slight humidity at five this morning when I stepped outside to look at the morning sky.

Incredible life with a humble cup of certified organic, shade grown and fair trade certified cup of café.

{I looked at spectacular fotografias on social on-line media earlier this morning from a former schoolmate and wanted to eat the pictures right off the page like a “Cookie Monster” (I have yet to watch a complete episode of Sesame Street in my lifetime) the fotografias were so succulent-looking I thought I could step right into the foto and eat vegetables right out of a garden. The World is this way – I find much beauty everywhere I turn because I realize there is also much destruction in the world as there is construction.}

P.S.S. Please don’t eat the sprouts and if you can help it don’t touch birds with their acid poop – actually just don’t touch wild life in general leave it up to the professionals. Thank you. Gods, that was a little bit of a PSA. No? Did you get that? In the interest of public safety. No? Si. Yes. Now, I’m a writer not an expert on anything else except what I make with my own two hands. Period. Next.

“Courage is what preserves our liberty, safety, life, and our homes and parents, our country and children. Courage comprises all things.” – Plautus

Happy Monday!

Good morning.

The days are still flying by -- all -- too quickly. No. Si. Yes.

Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.

Correction: (Thank goodness I don’t make up the currency amount of different types of fines that others must become responsible for violent crime against patrons in public places. My correction is this: I believe that nightclubs ought to pay fines of a particular currency amount due to a percentage of their fiscal profits when any patron dies inside their establishments. If it’s on the streets then perhaps, State governments could pay a percentage from their fiscal profits? I don’t know. Something has to occur for repercussions so that patrons don’t die to violent crime in contemporary culture and public establishments – there aren’t enough repercussions instilled for the responsibility to uphold to a peaceful public. That is something to have a beef about as a World public civilian. It’s about the patrons and their safety. Right. Right. No? Si. Yes. A premature economics 101 idea but it could be further discussed, problem solved and implemented for future generations and their safety in public establishments.)

I’ll write about Minneapolis Minnesota nightclubs, but that’s a lot to consider and to think about. I don’t frequent nightclubs, if, I can help it because I don’t go out, if, I don’t want to and normally, I don’t. Yet, I truly enjoy stepping out to dance from time to time to any 15-minute dance musica and that will quench my thirst for the desire to disco-tech for about a year.

Where to begin?

Oh, yes…

Indeed, the large amount of revenue that’s brought into the city of Minneapolis by nightclub owners, their staff and facilities is outstanding and the Minneapolis taxpaying community is grateful to their monetary contributions to the city. Thank you.

No, safety is not a race issue unless you make it one – it’s a progressive issue. Safety for all World citizens and civilians is a life right. Otherwise, tear down every nightclub in downtown Minneapolis and build a giant playground for kids. I could get real creative with what could be done with downtown real estate and it has nothing to do with revenue but rather with the gift for implementation and learning of future generations.

With that said, S-A-F-E-T-Y is the only word that comes to mind as a taxpaying hard-working World citizens and civilians of Minneapolis Minnesota.

Safety is a serious consideration and concern for the people, of the people and by the people.

Considering the safety of taxpaying World citizens and civilians is not a racial divide. It’s a reality.

This is my direct point; as a taxpayer – I never want the news that any friends, familia, relatives and acquaintances or any other member of civilization in the World to have to deal with violent crime of any type – especially on the streets of Minneapolis Minnesota and especially if I were ever to bury a loved one due to a bullet gunshot wound then I can tell you that I will lose respect for those nightclub owners who do not instill a better mode of security for their patrons.

Dear nightclub business owners take the helm of adulthood straight-on and face the winds of responsibility and consequences because it is your duty to steer your vessel properly and with respect for the sea as others maneuver their vessels as well. You’re not sailing, alone - there is a whole sea of us navigating our vessels as best to our abilities as we can with the tides and the winds at times against us as patrons.

Imagine, being a parent in France and a call comes over the wire from Minneapolis Minnesota that your child has been shot and killed at a disco-tech in downtown Minneapolis? The Minneapolis nightclub scene has much to offer to tourists, World citizens and civilians, locals and international students studying abroad so offer something spectacular, clean and safe to the World. The World is watching you to take the right steps and necessary percussions to ensure the safety of your patrons.

If our young can’t be safe on the streets of downtown Minneapolis Minnesota for the 18+ shows then no, I don’t believe citizens and civilians should frequent businesses and establishments that may cause injury or death due to violent crime and physical harm to the patrons of any nightclub, for that matter. Do you understand? I’m being North Shore New England East Coast direct with a lemon lime twist of Jewish Scandinavian Northern Minnesota after taste. What else is there? I’m not going to pussy-foot around the issue of violent crime.

Taxpaying only implies that you work hard for your money and if, you work hard, then you have a strong say on future politics and economics, otherwise, as adults let’s not pretend that resources, currency and safety is not compromised by a body of citizens who don’t work and sometimes create a majority of the violent crime and who furthermore don’t contribute to the future of America rather they solicit through begging or harassing citizens on street corners and that will not do.

(Yep, I wrote it in black ink and I’m not afraid to use these words because this is real adult discussion about classism, racism and violent crime in America. It’s not racist to call it for what it is. And violent crime is what it is, a specific demographics in certain pockets of America and in downtown Minneapolis it just happens to be some of our violent black brothers and sisters who take liberties with the safety of other patrons from around the World. Don’t even make a face at me I’ve already had a gun pointed at my head once in my life time and I was more silently enraged than you’ll ever know – not for my safety but for the safety of others around me. I’ve already lived through the worst of American economics and depression I know how to handle myself in many different situations, as a dignified woman of the World, what else is there?)

“If you’re going to carry a gun, then be prepared to die by it.” Said my Father when I was fourteen and I’m just now beginning to take on that responsibility by learning to shoot a gun and eventually I will conceal and carry a weapon because I’m prepared to die by my own gun and no, I’m not scared nor am I paranoid. I’m realistic about violent crime in America.

If I were to take out a gun for my own personal safety and protection and if I happen to point a gun at another human being then I will be prepared to die by my own gun as much as I will be prepared to shoot to kill. If, loved ones are threatened on their body and in their home then they should be prepared to fight because no one is going to kill or threaten my future young on the streets of Minneapolis not by day or night. If you break and enter into my home then be prepared to die no different than pointing a gun at someone in public. I will battle you to the death so if you draw a weapon on patrons of a nightclub then be very prepared to die by your own weapon and by your own accord.

(If my writing voice sounds strict, direct and stricter by the minute -- It’s because it is.)

I’m not going to pretend with myself that violent crime is not committed by and implemented by a certain demographics because that would so “politically correct” that the very words would make a liar out of me and I refuse to be a liar about race and economics in America especially in this day in age when it’s not okay to call things for what they are.

I won’t pretend with anybody about violent crime in America and I suggest that any thinking analytical mind not pretend that either these great issues for concern amongst taxpayers aren’t important because their taxes do go into supporting the nightlife, some violent crime and lifestyles of citizens who collect on welfare. (Yep, I wrote it for you. You didn’t have to.)

Those tax dollars wasted on violent crime and police reinforcement are our hard earned taxed dollars and we work -- too -- hard for some drug addict to collect on our taxes so they can live on welfare and bring violent crime into neighborhoods of hard working people.

It will not do.

Nope, it will not do. It cannot do because it’s not good enough to whine about how putting a spotlight on violent crime makes it a racial issue. Please.

If you deny that most of the violent crime is created by some black people in a downtown Minneapolis Minnesota nightclub scene then you’re more of a racist than I am. I’m a concerned citizen, indeed and I will continue to be concerned until Minneapolis restores safety back to its streets of downtown to certain nightclubs of Minneapolis.

I like some of the nightclubs I’ve frequented in downtown Minneapolis Minnesota but they’re not at the standard of safety as other nightclubs around the United States much less the World. No, downtown Minneapolis nightclubs are not at the epicenter of culture and safety even though we are striving for betterment.

Economics is about safety issues. People work, too, hard to have a gun pointed at their head any time of the day or night of the week walking by specific trouble spot and certain nightclubs.

If a black man points a gun at my head then I will make it a racial issue. If a white man points a gun at my head then I will make it a racial issue when I describe to the police the man’s profile down to his freckles. Are you with me so far? (I’m writing as an Indiana so step off about racism.) Please. Moving on with this lesson.

I believe that if a patron of any nightclub dies inside or around the nightclub then the nightclub owners and financers have the grave and great responsibility to be fined in the upwards of _______ or more dollars (depending on profits for each individual location), because those dollars will never bring back that patron to their loved ones and families. Caspisce. Even the mafia doesn’t allow for citizens and civilians to get shot at and killed out on the streets. Please.

As business owners and nightclub providers you have a great responsibility and the World is watching so what will you do – take on that great responsibility for implementing safety to all of your patrons or run away from it?

If you run away from your responsibilities then I can guarantee that you’re business will suffer over the long term, because places that are considered “scary” to patrons are ultimately lost, forgotten and not frequented by patrons and eventually close down because no one wants to spend currency at a location where you just might get a bullet along with your martini instead of an olive.

It is our responsibility as Minneapolis Minnesota taxpaying locals to keep violent crime off our streets and to ask government to implement either stricter laws against violent crime or heavy fines against nightclub owners for any type of violence that may be impose upon any patron peacefully frequenting their establishments.

Downtown Minneapolis Minnesota is a beautiful combination of honest and contributing members of civilization. We have many professionals who are young, middle-aged and wise-elders working in our downtown buildings who, frequent and contribute much monetary value as workers to an-overall Minneapolis downtown revenue, as well – seven days a week. Thank you.

What I love about the inner city of Minneapolis Minnesota is the mixture of professional working artists, entrepreneurs, local business owners and all taxpaying citizens, World tourists and American and International students.

What is there not to love about a sheek mixture of races, livable wages, hopefully excellent health benefits, moderate housing to match for those livable wages and especially a mixture of European savvy “white collar” dressers and our admirable and hard-working “blue-collar” 1980’s punkers, bikers, skateboarders and alternative lifestyles in all sorts of hard-working American folks?

Either you’re working, striving and contributing towards betterment or frankly, you collect taxpayer’s and their contributions to your welfare – whether you should be eligible or not.

The state of Florida implemented drug testing to its collecting welfare citizens and I applaud the state of Florida for doing so on their efforts. As a taxpaying World citizen I don’t want my taxes to go to drug addicts collecting on welfare – I rather that-that money go into education and eradicating violent crime from American streets. Period. Next.

Do you know what an awesome and successful inner-city, Minneapolis is? Its peaceful combination of urban sheek “blue collar” savvy punks and their ideals on environmentally friendly philosophies as well as urban sheek “white collar” savvy dressers who uphold to those same excellent ideals and respect for those same environmental philosophies because as a generation we have the planet in mind – not just ourselves. We believe in (pesticide free) certified organics, composting, building and restoring the economy with our crafts, artistry and professionalism no matter how much we may disagree on politics and economical strategy.

As Generation X – we are not -- a city, committed to economical or cultural narcissism, classicism and racism. We, as a Generation, have some high ideals about eradicating violent crime and disruption of the peace when it comes to our streets. Why wouldn’t we? Please.

I’m not in favor for classist gentrification but I am in favor of moderate living costs to all World citizens and civilians as well as excellent benefits and safe streets for all and I mean everybody – no matter who you are, your race, your income status and your gender preference.

I don’t care if you’re purple, green and spotted; the moment someone takes out a gun and so much threatens the lives of dancing peaceful nightclub patrons then you should be outraged not so much because of your economical politics but because the youth and patrons of Minneapolis Minnesota should be safe on our streets.

These hard-working taxpaying folks and citizens get along amongst each other and contribute to the overall Minneapolis revenue. These taxpaying folks are not judging, classifying or marginalizing other races, they are, nevertheless. However, questioning their safety if they so choose to afford the luxury of frequenting nightclubs. They might as well go night swimming rather than dodging bullets from some violent crazed idiot coming or going into any nightclub with a gun or a weapon.

Taxpaying citizens understand the importance of a melting pot of economics, race and income status. We are that smart and savvy as middle-aged Minneapolis urban cool.

Minneapolis Minnesota has more contributing urban humble and strong savvy street hipsters than I’ve ever seen in any other city thus far. I’ve been told to travel to Oregon and Portland. Yet, don’t forget I don’t live in the woods, I live in an inner city with suburbs stretching for miles once you get out of the city - as a taxpaying citizen of a Midwestern city. I live on concrete flat pavement and that - I love as a middle-aged skateboarding taxpaying citizen. It is what it is.

Minneapolis Minnesota is not Boston, N.Y.C., Chicago, L.A. or any other huge metropolis in the United States alone, but this is a happening place, with happening folks, doing and contributing in amazing respectful and decent professional and productive ways. I’m astounded daily by my contemporary peers across the World and I’m floored by the city I live in and its taxpaying contributing members of this Minneapolis melting pot of culture.

Furthermore, the greatest aspect of inner city Minneapolis is that people live here, contribute and are out and about late into the night. We are urban savvy folks. Minneapolis Minnesota has a gem and that-is-that-it has a thriving night life and economy unlike that of St. Paul Minnesota.

Recently, in the last month I walked the streets of downtown St. Paul Minnesota at ten at night to attend a poetry reading and I haven’t been that concerned for my safety as a human in twenty years since I witnessed the business district of downtown Chicago at the end of their working day and every citizen packed up and left as quickly as they could. That’s St. Paul Minnesota for you. The downtown streets are desolate by night.

The business district of Chicago became a ghost town and it was definitely eerie. A woman could have been raped in the middle of the street and not a single person would’ve come to her aid because there was no one to come to her aid. It was deserted and pathetic for inner city living. I’ve never been raped, but I’ve come to the aid of women who have been raped right afterwards while I’ve been skateboarding and it’s traumatic for everyone involved. I promise you that. It’s violent crime at its worst.

I stood in the middle of two city streets of downtown St. Paul and Chicago and thought, ‘Nope. This is horrible for a vital city economy and the safety of its people. This will not do.’

I’d rather take my chances walking alone at night on the streets of downtown Minneapolis Minnesota any day than those of St. Paul Minnesota.

As for those ladies, women going barefoot in the inner city – you look silly walking barefoot on piss, vomit and broken glass. If you’re going to go downtown then you will notice your hipster contemporary female counterparts, wearing shoes, because they’re that urban savvy and cool. A woman carries gear, proper shoes and can get in and out of any public place without harming others or violent crime committed against her. Urban sheek cool women are this savvy and I like smart animals, what is there not to like about an alpha animal?

Peace.

Sincerely,

Gabriela

P.S. I have a few serious responsibilities to take care of still yet, since I’m six months behind production schedule this year (slow as a Tortuga yet still in motion) and then, here I come, summer 2011. I’m staying close to home because that’s a luxury I’m willing to afford.

I like the concept of European Holiday where los Europanos go off and travel in and around Europa. Europanos truly are World travelers. Incredible.

I’m staying close to home and I’ve budgeted for personal travel to a place called “Mount Rushmore”, “The Black Hills” and “Wounded Knee”.

My pilgrimage this summer, my Mecca, if, you - will, is to finally see these places in the Midwest and to look upon them with regard, respect and hope for the future of America.

I’ve made personal and professional budgets to camp out -- there are so many different and amazing places in Minnesota and the Midwest to get out and see the great outdoors that our forbearers left untouched, thank you. I look forward to preparing and cooking meals over an open fire. Cheers to that!

Aloha. I love that expression for so many reasons.

“Learn avidly. Question repeatedly what you have learned. Analyze it carefully. Then put what you have learned into practice intelligently.” - Edward Cocker

Happy Friday!

(Correction; the following type of writing is the way that I was taught to do an academic analytical review of my contemporaries in any field especially not of those in my field and in my line of work but those outside of my expertise. Peer review is not done by those in your field but rather by those not in your field who uphold to a set of standards to the best of their intellectual capacity to analytically review as to what works and what doesn’t. I was taught by North Shore, New England, East Coast private schooling standards that it’s an honor to have any peer do an analytical review on any subject because it only means that that person stopped long enough to consider your work. Incredible!)

It’s been a beautiful sunrise this morning with white-grey clouds speeding by.

Well, shall I get to it? Right.

This morning I will be writing about “God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza.

{Disclaimer #1: I’m NOT an art critic of any genre nor do I pretend to be one. I’m not an expert at anything in life except for that, which, I, conceptualize, create and develop with my own two hands and constructively criticize with my human thinking, breathing and processing brain. I can’t pretend to know exactly what an artist is completely conveying in any genre except for that, which, I perceive art to be as any individual does. Anything else is organic (pesticide free) American apple pie. Cheers for that!} One more disclaimer, this blog is about becoming a better writer of the Ingles langua; there will be misspellings, incorrect grammar, bizarre word associations and meaning will get lost in translation. I promise you, that, language always does get lost in translation.

I’m cringing over - here, but I’ll try to give it my best shot. I will write about “God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza, because I think it’s important enough to write about and address any subject matter at any time while I’m writing. If I don’t give an idea a second thought then I would definitely not take the time to write about it because...it’s time and energy.

I will write somewhat academically, first; as I was taught to do so in an art appreciation curriculum and communications analysis. I was taught that constructive criticism is to understand an overall overview of any observations made as an art appreciator from any experience and to first, give as many positive points observed as, one, can think of and then negative points, secondly or to strive for that anyway if the art work leaves much to be desired and need of revision. There is always room for revision and progress.

Okay, hang on – just like skateboarding – plant your feet, find your center of gravity and sway and balance in harmony as you travel with velocity and maneuver around obstacles on any course along the adventures and sightseeing of life.

God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza

The minimalistic stage setup and intensely magnified dialogue-filled one-act stage play of “God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza is an intelligently and cleverly written piece of literary art work which represents a contemporary portrayal of alarming and dismissing behavior and swearing language amongst strangers of professional working-class adult status of a particular sector of culture and their inability to precisely communicate while in conflict is a prevailing portrayal of modern culture, alright.

The premise of “God of Carnage” is about two couples who meet to communicate as intelligently as possible about a playground fight that takes place earlier in a day between each of their sons who are described as characters but not actually portrayed on stage as Ferdinand Reille and Bruno Vallon.

The playground fight described amongst the adult characters; between the two youngsters, which, proceeded to knock out the two front teeth from the mouth of Ferdinand Reille’s ombient resonance as a character strongly portrays that Ferdinand Reille and Bruno Vallon are bi-products of their stressed out and modern parents and, thus, the dialogue filled scenes of the characters’ main conflicts are portrayed as a main repetitive narrative factor amongst the adult characters consistently throughout the play without discovery for any possibilities of change, self-responsibility, solutions and resolution.

The main and only 90-minute storyline and major thematic plot point of conflict in the play “God of Carnage” immediately catapults an audience over a literary arch of an existential crises, verbal and physical conflict and a major dispute amongst characters who eventually unravel and emotionally fall apart under the influence of alcohol, stress and lack of self responsibility and in front of one another. Furthermore the characters portray the very real and fragile aspects of ordinary intelligent humans suffering an intensified loneliness of incredibly unstable culture and their human woes, intellectual plights, verbal and body language prejudices through the characters’ miscommunication.

It is obvious that Ms. Reza made the clever point to convey the overall objective that if modern adults have difficulties addressing conflict then how are they to address conflict, hardship, bullying and misconceptions with their 11-year old children much less amongst other adults. I have no doubt in my mind that Ms. Reza is a well rounded and cultured lady as it is obvious through her writing that she is educated, intelligent and cultured. However, “God of Carnage” as a play fails to develop, mature and cultivate a sense of maturity amongst the adult characters portrayed. Maybe, life is this way and conflict is stagnant, although, one, can only hope that there is far more to life after the curtain falls, so that as an audience we can take away with us the many lessons about the fragile mental state of what is being portrayed on stage.

One, of many questions about “God of Carnage” is this: Is modern culture being mirrored / reflected back at us or is it literary masturbation all over the written page?

Too much of the audiences’ surprise much of the main and only plot points in the storyline continued to be reiterated through the fragility, anger and disillusionment of the characters without any real hope of literary solutions often discovered beyond the suffering of learning.

The taut bravado of dialectic swearing and conflict sustained throughout the one-act play was more of a beginner’s boxing technique of “the-bob-and-weave”.

As any contributing  audience member attending “God of Carnage”, one, might be in need of broken-in boxing gloves while in attendance to this theatre performance and if that’s not enough to protect yourself from literary swearing blow after blow minute after minute then try a boxing combination of a “slip” and “parry”.

Otherwise, be prepared to take straight punches to the face most of those 90-minutes of your life and painfully laugh at the very real portrayals of life in front of you no less painful or different than watching any beginner’s boxing match; boxing matches are painful to watch no matter how much, one, may love the sport of boxing because it’s obvious to the crowd that we’re not in the ring suffering blows but we hear the sounds of bone smacking, we smell iron blood and salty sweat and ultimately we’re cheering for character development beyond a beginner’s clumsiness to protect themselves from a face punch and to learn to return blows when the timing is right and strategically.

It takes a master thespian to carve out a canoe from a juvenile log and they do the best that they can with what producers provide them because when you’re lost in a forest, learn to decipher edible plants, find water and sit down, the “Coriolis Effect” will affect you sooner than later if you keep walking around and around in circles, sit back down and relax and take it in stride that you’re lost in the woods and sooner than later, either help will come along for or you’ll die out there amongst the cruelty of mother nature and no, she won’t even notice you sitting there, not, enough, anyway to laugh at you – now, that’s real suffering. Death can only be easier than starving out in the woods alone never to be found and buried properly. In other words there is a lot to be said for artistic wisdom, development and projection.

The one-act play “God of Carnage” constructs a minimalistic production approach to the elements of mise-en-scene as far as lighting, sound, wardrobe, makeup, costuming, set changes and scenery are concerned. This is a production which is considered in the industry as a “spot light and folding chair” production – in other words, it’s not only a minimalistic approach to stage production but it also defines the writing as minimalistic as well, only to say that the writer did not have to write out and construct directions for scenery, set changes and all other descriptive aspects of playwriting entailed in full length productions, thus, the play “God of Carnage” fails in its overall artistic mise-en-scene elements as a major length stage production because there isn’t much of a set production only dialogue sequences.

One-act minimalistic plays make for novice writing no matter how intelligent and clever the many direct points endured by the audiences, the writing is what-it-is, It isn’t well developed in the sense that writers will take liberties with cutting corners when it comes to writing behind the scenes elaborate directions, well rounded dialogue, storyline progression and stage setup, sound and lighting descriptors. If there are no set changes then there is less writing and a minimalistic approach to playwriting is fine when starting out or taking a minimalist economical budget approach to playwriting and play production.

One-act plays are considered an introduction to playwriting much like short films (10 minutes) are customary to novice and amateur filmmakers. It doesn’t necessarily mean that the short films are bad but it-is what-it-is, a short - and not a feature length production so most audiences understand that they are not comparable because apples and oranges taste differently, just the same. The admission and price of a ticket ought to constitute the overall value of any production otherwise, its amateur hour.

There is no doubt that Yasmina Reza is an intelligent contemporary playwright, yet the one-act play “God of Carnage” leaves much to be desired with its flat line deliverance and dead poignant swearing and reiterated points on the intellectual fears and suffering of inept communicators. The play flat lines immediately when, one, discovers that there isn’t much more to the narrative than that and that is a tragedy to leave an audience hanging in outer space, there, for a mature ending.

See, I’ve reiterated so you can understand that I’m mirroring what is done in communication quite often. I, mainly catch it because I’m English as a Second Language.

As of yesterday I had no idea who Yasmina Reza was and what her work was about. I look forward to seeing her compilation of work over a long career throughout her life time. I think Ms. Reza’s writing to be very clever and young.

Reza’s playwriting efforts are to be applauded tremendously as I did yesterday in a World Theatre as I have in many other theatres throughout the World.

The play “God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza was so awful to endure like watching a bullet enter the brain of an injured horse that all I could do at the curtain drop was nothing but to do as the Romans do while in Rome and I gave it a standing ovation, along with my peers only because they did, I rolled my Indiana R’s and, once, sang in praise, “Bravo!” I tried to leave the theatre and parking garage as quickly as I could. Afterwards, I ran for nature to fulfill in me what those 90-minutes of my life had taken from me.

It will probably be another decade before I attend live-theatre once more. I don’t have anything against attending live-theatre; I just don’t want to be fooled by producers into watching something that is more destructive than constructive. Entiende. Caspisce. Capere. Understand. (I’m teasing but not really).

I’m wishing you an amazing weekend amongst close and intimate friendships and strangers who go out of their way to be direct, courteous and kind in gesture.

Ciao,

Mrs. Gabriela de la Holm

P.S. I’m looking forward to our weekend. I’m loved and care for. What more can a human ask for?

As for my friend in the production department, “Thank you for the production ticket.” I was grilled at the box office and it was annoying to be treated more like a third class citizen than a guest - it comes with the territory of modern ideals about classism, not sophistication nor class. I see the distinctions made quite clearly.

I thought, perhaps theatre companies dealing with all types of public require looking into the Disney University. Do you know what the Disney University is? Please look it up.

Do you know why we keep going back to Disney World year of year no matter what the extravagant expense may be, we like to afford the luxury of being treated like a human being and not some pretentious “nobody”. At Disney World the staff will never be mean to any of their guests because we pay for a transcending experience and that is what other places lack and leave much to be desired in any business approach.

People aren’t cattle, they are hard working and contributing adults, so if I go to your business of establishment please do not treat me like I’m on a witness stand rather like a lovely guest who made the time to be at your establishment because that is precisely what I am, a guest. A guest in your home and you’ve invited me there once you opened your doors to the public. I’ll see you in a decade I have far more pressing contributions and responsibilities to fulfill than to be treated snobbishly at a box office. It is what it is.

As for the young Asian man working as usher, you made me feel like I had gone home all over again to the East Coast. Thank you for your direction, directness and bold humility. Its people like you, who, will someday own the companies you work for as young people, today. I keep hope by my side, because I recognize, responsible and amazingly intelligent people interacting daily and now that is a wonderful thing.

My walking companions, which happened to be the same walking companions in-and-out from the parking garage were so lovely and helpful that an entire play could have been written about their genuine concern for life, their strong and honest sentiments and dislike for the play we had shared. I love Minnesotans, they will tell you exactly what they think if you ask them point blank.

"Great hopes make great men." - Thomas Fuller

Happy Thursday!

To our family, loved ones and close friends and their friends and bordering neighbors to the west in the New England area, our thoughts and Mayan prayers are with you, today, as we travel throughout the day. To our neighbors in the East – our Japanese friends, our thoughts and Mayan prayers are also with you. As for our North Minneapolis friends and neighbors, we hold you in our hearts and wish you great health, patience and prosperity in the weeks to come. For our relatives, their loved ones and their neighbors in Joplin, MO our prayers and thoughts are also with you.

I raise a moment of silence to all those displaced persons (correction; not misplaced because they aren’t lost) in the world due to weather, circumstance and situation. May your ancestors and my Mayan prayers be with you, now.

{To our close friends who are stage builders and riggers – my Mayan prayers are with you – always as you journey into a busy season of travel, construction and venues. I wish you safety, beauty and patience. I was lucky-enough to have had the great fortune and luck to spend two summers working in two separate volunteer (three month long) apprenticeships (no, not school accredited – life learning – what else is there as an adult?) in which I, too, learned skills in constructing stages, rigging and learning to reconstruct an entire stage last summer as well as sharing in community, communicating and relating to people as vastly differently from me as it got while breaking bread together. Thank you for your skills which you graciously bestowed upon me – I will carry those skills with me for the rest of my life and into this summer as I volunteer at one organic garden and conduct soil-lead testing of organic vegetables at another private garden. Your families will be greatly missed as I make my way through this summer of 2011 – I will think of you and everything you’ve taught me about stage safety, construction and tools. Gracias, con mi corazon. I will not forget the last two summers of roller-coaster rides (personally, I was amazed by the amount of travel roadies, riggers and stage builders did and the immense pressure and responsibility placed upon stage hands and crews). It was back breaking work and people were professionals and on it! I’m proud to call myself one of their own – even though we didn’t always agree on lifestyle, politics and religion. Cheers for that.}

Well, there are so many topics I’d like to write about, but today is a short work day for me behind a desk. There are just too many other responsibilities to meet today. So yes, imagine. I’m cutting it short this morning.

More blogging ideas for later:

*) What constitutes a role model?

*) Does a role model get chosen to be a role model by society and other individuals - or - do role models choose themselves as role models to society and others?

*) Is a role model a person who sells products?

*) Can a role model be a person who is illiterate, lives in the jungles of _____ ____ and doesn’t have a boob tube?

*) Do all role models look, speak and act similarly?

*) Do role models strive for excellence or recognition?

*) Is a role model a corporation or an individual? (I know-I know right? Right.)

*) Is a role model someone who is opinionated, set in their ways and curmudgeons or someone who smiles all the time, agrees with everything and goes with the status flow? (I meant to write that.) (Ha!) (Broma. Broma. Chiste. Funny. Ha! Joke.) Okay. Next. I find asking questions hilarious. Why not? I think asking questions is fun and the answers sometimes, well…wonderful.

*) Is a role model… What? (It’s rhetorical.)

*) Why so much racism and hatred against Caucasian folk?

*) What, did contemporary (modern) / today’s Caucasian hard-working taxpaying World citizens and civilians of America ever do to the African American ancestors and slaves? Careful, I’m talking about the living vs. the dead and the living are born with life-rights to prosper, live and die as they see fit without judgment of previous mistakes made by their ancestors. Live and learn. Right.

*) What have our Caucasian Living-breathing-thinking-rational brothers and sisters done to other races, to disserve the punishment of their Caucasian ancestors?

*) What have the living done to the dead? Nothing. Not in today’s culture – not a single argument against that question could be made under any circumstance which my little brain can come up with. (Tongue in cheek). (I think that’s an American expression. No? Si? Yes.)

*) Is racism hating others’ abusive, negative and mean-spirited behavior from any other race? If you’re rude, greedy and arrogant then can I not like you and hate your behavior for being rude and spoiled rather than for the representation of your skin color? (I’m being very simplistic, here. I’m spelling this question out so that everyone is on the same level of literate translation).

*) Is racism hating rude behavior in others?

*) What is African American racism and prejudice towards Caucasians?

*) What is Caucasian racism and prejudice towards African Americans?

*) Why does racism exist amongst minorities against other minorities? Gods that could be a Thesis. Yes, indeed. I think in my humble opinion that that would make an incredible anthropological study. If only I had two hundred years to live and to discover more. Ah, learning.

*) Why so many stereotypes about race and very little racial discussion amongst civilians about the rude behaviors imposed by other civilians?

*) What is the acceptable behavior in public in America?

*) Is it rude to yell in public?

*) Is it rude to push and shove in public?

*) Is it rude to swear, gossip and be condescending towards others in public?

*) Is it rude to speak about violence in public?

*) Is it rude to draw a weapon in public?

*) Is it rude to touch others in public?

*) Is it rude to start a fight with another in a public place?

*) Is it rude to ridicule another in public?

*) Is it rude to ask personal questions of others in public?

*) Is it rude to make assumptions of others in public?

*) Is it rude to throw garbage on the ground in public?

*) Is it rude to vomit in public?

*) Is it rude to burp and pass gas in public?

*) Is it rude to point in public?

*) Is it rude to be intoxicated in public?

*) Is it rude to fornicate in public?

*) Is it rude to masturbate in public?

In film speech – “Back-to-one” – Back to the beginning and start again then roll it. I was taught that all of the above “rude” questions end with - a - yes. Okay. Moving on.

Seriously, bullies exist in society because the boundaries of public discourse and composure either no longer applies to the next generation of American children and adults or this model of World civility doesn’t exist in America – yet I grew up composed in every Costa Rican and American community which I have equally participated as an intellectual peer and there were two things for certain that we live by in our code of honor; never to steal and never to cheat another - only to fairly barter and exchange in any currency or moneys; be it shells, seeds or beads. Personally, my favorite currency is seeds, then I can plant them and eat well. (Now, with that said, and with my A.D.H.D. mind racing I have placed tools and pens in my working pockets but I have never purposely needed to take them home with me and I have always returned them when people have asked for their tools and pens back point blank or when I’m empting out my pockets at the end of a work day and if,  mistakenly I did pick-up an object that doesn’t belong to me then I’ll remember exactly where it came from and I will try to locate its proper owner as soon as possible. If I require the ownership of anything in this world then I will go and buy tools and pens with my hard earned currency. Thank you. I’m down from my North Shore New England East Coast soap box.)

“That belongs to me.” He said.

“Most certainly it does.” I answered. “Do you think that I’m not aware that when I hold an object in my hand that if it doesn’t belong to me that I don’t know that. Please.” I handed the object back to him and became completely turned off by an adult male in relationship to me as an adult female.

*) What is rudeness in contemporary America while in public? (Ah, why can’t we all move forward as civilized Americans?) Let us all move up to the start up line and begin trekking through the jungles of this journey. I’ve got a compass, anyone else ready with their gear and let’s head to new politico y cultural awareness and open mindedness. America will change for the better and sometimes change requires to veer in a new adventurous direction towards a silent and calm dusk over the horizon. Cheers to that!

*) Why are assumptions made about class?

*) What is classism?

*) What is class?

*) What is sophistication?

*) What is the difference between classism and class?

*) What is the difference between classism and sophistication? (Ah, the light bulb went on, right. Right.)

I’m wishing you an amazing day.

Alright, I have responsibilities to meet before the day is over.

Pura Vida.

Gabriela

Haikus are on my mind. Now, that I started writing Haikus I can’t seem to stop thinking in 17 syllables. Cheers to that.

Happy Wednesday!

It’s a beautiful morning here in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sunshine is out and the birds are singing. It’s the type of day that you can go barefoot, smile for no reason and go Costa Rican tranquillo y despasio into this day. We’ll never see this day, again, for as long as we live. Funny thought, no? Si. Yes?

There are days when I sit down to write and all I write is Spanish, not because I’m brilliant at it but because, first, I think in Spanish and that will never change then I translate in my head as quickly as I can back to Ingles. It’s no problem. It just takes double the time to process. (I’ve got to find the “ene” on my keyboard.) And, I also have memory lapse with specific Spanish words that I didn’t learn before the age of ten, so I’m constantly looking up words in English, Spanish and Japanese. I’m making my way through the English-Japanese dictionary yet again. Someday, as a personal goal I’d like to write poetry in Japanese. Wouldn’t that be a dream?

Okay, aside from the fact that most words and communication does get “Lost in Translation”. Yes, indeed. For as worldly as we are, today in contemporary World society about cultural differences, we never truly know the meaning, tone and subtleties in language unless we try to learn another language, anything at all - so that we learn patience, a deeper knowledge and understanding of other cultures and their stories. I love World literature, foods, cinema, animation, peoples and cultures. What is there not to love about the advancements in culture?

To all those displaced persons in the world, especially those recently in Japan, Joplin, MO., and North Minneapolis my Mayan prayers have been with you - as I’ve traveled throughout the days. May your Gods and your ancestors be with you, now, whichever Gods you prefer to pray to.

As for American politics, I take the freedom as an artist to make usage of the word “prayer” in my writing and I’m being very specific about, which, Gods I pray to - the Mayan Gods and no, I’m not making any pretence about that usage of language and it’s not meant to be religiously in tone, actually, if you’ve ever studied Mayan ideology and theology and you understand it to be more of a sentiment of good will nothing and nothing less than what the words say.

As for politics, I do not , solely, take my pocket book in mind and humanitarian justice at heart ideals to vote with me, nor do I take my Mayan religious beliefs with me into the voting booth and in politically inclined arenas. I’m an intelligent woman of the world and no, I’m not a public figure by any stretch of the imagination but all I have to write is that - if – American Republican politicians move for prayer in the public school systems, then, I want Mayan, Ojibwa, Hindu, Buddhist, Catholic, Celtic, Pagan, Voodoo and any other prayer services offered to any academic persons wanting to learn any religious information.

Fair – even playing field, right? Right. Republican politicians want prayers mixed in with politics and public education? Okay, just make sure that at least (50) fifty different types of prayer are communicated – otherwise, it would be a bigoted and emotional sentiment and not a political one to demand for only one type of prayer in the public school system – it would be bigotry not to cheer for the rest of the World community and their prayers. Let’s move on in shallow politics, unnecessary policies and onto far more important issues like medicine, education and violent crime in America! We have far more pressing Peoples’ politics and issues to address, clear, and implement for the people, by the people and of the people.

I take my American politics very seriously, even when I’m laughing in the face of the boob-tube and politicians look more like car salespeople in commercials than leaders discussing domestic and foreign policy, free trade, the World Bank and bringing home the American troops, free National healthcare and free National education (Think big! Think Costa Rica and their model of middle-class welfare and care for all.) The American taxpaying World citizens, which are still the majority and have strong voices require of our politicians to give the people fair representation of their needs at the Capitol. We need our American politicians to be alert, present and have a strong and commanding voice in the interest of their people. Let us round a corner as we used to say in speed skating. Let us round that next corner, I can picture the straight away – it’s just sitting there waiting for us to run it with grace, patience and clarity.

I’m not a predictor of anything, much less the future. I cannot foretell the future nor do I pretend to be able to do so, yet educated guess leads me to believe that if as American taxpaying World citizens, that if we go back to one in film speech and start reading about our Founding Fathers and their American ideals on politics then we’ll re-discover that we as a people have a lot of say with our vote and voices as to what happens to America’s future.

Will the American taxpaying citizens bring us forth into this century or will we stay in the dark ages of our politics? What gives from progressing America forward? I make an educated guess that the more people read their American Constitutional and Amendment Rights that the more we’ll find that National healthcare, medicine and education are not luxuries solely for the upper class and corporations, but of the people, by the people and for the people. Cheers! The winds of change will come when The American People connect back to their politico roots of our Founding Fathers’ ideals for American and excellent change in need of its people. (Okay, what a mouth full of words. Imagine what that’s like in Spanish?)

When I vote, my Mayan Gods and prayers are personal and I wish to keep them so because State and Church have no business placed on my ballot. I do not want to deal with religion when it comes to my American politics and I’m demanding that State and Church be kept separated – otherwise, I want an alternative / independent representative and running candidate in the next presidential elections. American politicians and those wanting to become politicians, the world is watching.

The whole world’s a stage and if you climb that platform, the higher the pedestal then the harder the fall – people have the right to criticize your ideas, ideals and thoughts about your politics as politicians, so keep it kosher or find another profession more suitable to your needs, likes and dislikes. You can start a blog and tell us all about it. Why do you think I’m an artist? I’m at ground zero and I don’t have far to fall. I’m a regular happy-go-lucky American with deep values, morals and sentiments about politics like any other adult in the World.

State and Church are separate and always will be because, otherwise. I want a poodle for president. Can other species run for presidency? Of course, not. See how absurd it all is. Let us move on! Shall we? Let us all move up to the start up line and begin again with domestic policy and humanitarian laws (Yes, I’m being facetious, sounding like an older woman not of my generation. I write it with purpose – otherwise, I don’t spell the words.)

I like it when politics and those trying to pass logical laws, make sense because I was taught that politics is an equation no different than philosophy, logic and reasoning. Thank the Mayan Gods, I didn’t set out to be a lawyer, first, then a politician, I lack diplomacy because in my mind that’s another field that requires to be leveled in the World, today. I’ll try to paraphrase; “‘Diplomacy is saying ‘nice, dog.’ Until you find a bigger stick.’” Ha! I laughed so hard. The quote went something like that in Ingles, but it might’ve gotten lost in translation. That is very possible. Ha! Hilarious!

I’m wishing you an excellent day with amazing health, beauty and kindness in your lives.

Ah, the world of human beings! Ah. Weird, no? Si? Yes.

Sincerely,

Gabriela

P.S. I’ll get back to Haiku writing. I’d like to do a full month of Haikus.

Amendments:

The framers of the Constitution were aware that changes would be necessary if the Constitution was to endure as the nation grew. However, they were also conscious that such change should not be easy, lest it permit ill-conceived and hastily passed amendments. On the other hand, they also wanted to ensure that a rigid requirement of unanimity would not block action desired by the vast majority of the population. Their solution was a two-step process for proposing and ratifying new amendments.

Mending the Constitution is a two-part process: amendments must be proposed then ratified. Amendments can be proposed one of two ways. To date, all amendments, whether ratified or not, have been proposed by a two-thirds vote in each house of Congress. Over 10,000 constitutional amendments have been introduced in Congress since 1789; during the last several decades, between 100 and 200 have been offered in a typical congressional year. Most of these ideas never leave Congressional committee, and far fewer get proposed by the Congress for ratification.

Alternatively, if two-thirds of the state legislatures demand one, Congress must call for a constitutional convention, which would have the power to propose amendments. As no such convention has been called, it is unclear how one would work in practice.

Regardless of how the amendment is proposed, it must also be ratified by three-fourths of states. Congress determines whether the state legislatures or special state conventions ratify the amendment. The 21st Amendment is the only one that employed state conventions for ratification.

There are currently only a few proposals for amendments which have entered mainstream political debate. These include the Federal Marriage Amendment, the Balanced Budget Amendment, and the Flag Desecration Amendment. All three proposals are supported primarily by conservatives, but failed during periods of Republican control of Congress to achieve the supermajorities necessary for submission to the states. As such, none of these are likely to be proposed under the current Congress, which includes a Senate controlled by the more liberal Democratic Party.

Unlike amendments to most constitutions, amendments to the United States Constitution are appended to the body of the text without altering or removing what already exists. (However, in cases where newer text clearly contradicts older text, the newer text is given precedence. For instance, the Twenty-first Amendment repealed the Eighteenth Amendment.) Technically, nothing prevents a future amendment from actually changing the older text, rather than simply appending text to the end.

The Bill of Rights is the collective name for the first ten amendments to the United States Constitution. They were introduced by James Madison to the First United States Congress in 1789 as a series of legislative articles and came into effect as Constitutional Amendments on December 15, 1791, through the process of ratification by three-fourths of the States.

The Bill of Rights is a series of limitations on the power of the United States federal government, protecting the natural rights of liberty and property including freedom of religion, freedom of speech, a free press, free assembly, and free association, as well as the right to keep and bear arms. In federal criminal cases, it requires indictment by a grand jury for any capital or "infamous crime", guarantees a speedy, public trial with an impartial jury composed of members of the state or judicial district in which the crime occurred, and prohibits double jeopardy. In addition, the Bill of Rights reserves for the people any rights not specifically mentioned in the Constitution and reserves all powers not specifically granted to the federal government to the people or the States. Most of these restrictions on the federal government were later applied to the states by a series of legal decisions applying the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was ratified in 1868. The Bill was influenced by George Mason's 1776 Virginia Declaration of Rights, the 1689 English Bill of Rights, works of the Age of Enlightenment pertaining to natural rights, and earlier English political documents such as Magna Carta (1215).

Delegates to the Philadelphia Convention on September 12, 1787 debated whether to include a Bill of Rights in the body of the U.S. Constitution, and an agreement to create the Bill of Rights helped to secure ratification of the Constitution itself. Ideological conflict between Federalists and anti-Federalists threatened the final ratification of the new national Constitution. Thus, the Bill addressed the concerns of some of the Constitution's influential opponents, including prominent Founding Fathers, who argued that the Constitution should not be ratified because it failed to protect the fundamental principles of human liberty.

Twelve articles were proposed to the States, but only the last ten articles were ratified in the 18th Century, corresponding to the First through Tenth Amendments. The proposed first Article, dealing with the number and apportionment of U.S. Representatives, never became part of the Constitution. The second Article, limiting the power of Congress to increase the salaries of its members, was ratified two centuries later as the 27th Amendment.

The Bill of Rights plays a key role in American law and government, and remains a vital symbol of the freedoms and culture of the nation. One of the first fourteen copies of the Bill of Rights is on public display at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

The Seats of the Senators of the first Class shall be vacated at the Expiration of the second Year, of the second Class at the Expiration of the fourth Year, and of the third Class at the Expiration of the sixth Year, so that one third may be chosen every second Year; and if Vacancies happen by Resignation, or otherwise, during the Recess of the Legislature of any State, the Executive thereof may make temporary Appointments until the next Meeting of the Legislature, which shall then fill such Vacancies.

No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

Neither House, during the Session of Congress, shall, without the Consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days, nor to any other Place than that in which the two Houses shall be sitting.

If after such Reconsideration two thirds of that House shall agree to pass the Bill, it shall be sent, together with the Objections, to the other House, by which it shall likewise be reconsidered, and if approved by two thirds of that House, it shall become a Law. But in all such Cases the Votes of both Houses shall be determined by yeas and Nays, and the Names of the Persons voting for and against the Bill shall be entered on the Journal of each House respectively. If any Bill shall not be returned by the President within ten Days (Sundays excepted) after it shall have been presented to him, the Same shall be a Law, in like Manner as if he had signed it, unless the Congress by their Adjournment prevent its Return, in which Case it shall not be a Law.
